On November 9, it was reported that with the increasing global attention to sustainable development issues, the tire manufacturing industry is also actively exploring the path of green transformation. At the Michelin booth of French companies, this year's CIIE witnessed a remarkable innovation-the Asian debut of a 71% sustainable material tire, which combines biobased raw materials such as lemon and orange peel and recycled carbon black. Environmental protection materials have set a new benchmark for the green development of the tire industry.
Walking into the Michelin exhibition area located at the 2.1 Automobile Pavilion of the CIIE, a touch of green jumped into your eyes. This tire surrounded by green vegetation seems to be the perfect fusion of nature and modern technology. The resin, sunflower seed shells and waste steel displayed around it are all raw materials for manufacturing this environmentally friendly tire, vividly explaining Michelin's continuous progress in the application of sustainable materials. At every CIIE, Michelin brings new breakthroughs in the field of sustainable materials. This year's exhibits have pushed this "CIIE story" to new heights.
According to the Carbon Black Industry Network, in the face of the urgent demand for high-quality tires in the global automobile market, Michelin has keenly captured the trend of green industrial upgrading, especially in China, the world's largest tire producer. Ye Fei, President and CEO of Michelin Greater China and Mongolia, emphasized that the "double carbon" goal proposed by China is highly consistent with the company's own sustainable development vision. Michelin is actively using thermal cracking technology to extract reusable oil and recycled carbon black from used tires, responding to the call for environmental protection with practical actions. Ye Fei said that the company plans to achieve 100% sustainability of all tire production materials by 2050, and hopes that the Shenyang factory will achieve its carbon neutrality goal by 2028 and become a green model for the global tire manufacturing industry.
