China's Solutions Empower Global Mining Green Transformation
The 2026 China International Mining Conference opened in Tianjin with the theme "Win-Win Cooperation, Green and Smart." Unmanned mining trucks shuttle back and forth, intelligent systems analyze in real time, and ore processing equipment operates efficiently. Green technologies, intelligent equipment, and smart mine solutions were showcased, as China's solutions accelerate the green transformation of the global mining industry.
Smart Mining Solutions on Display
At the Xinhai Mining exhibition area, a green mine sand table was "operating." On the central control screen, data on ore lifting volume, equipment load, tailings pond liquid level, and personnel positions updated in real time. "Staff can remotely monitor and control the operation of the ore processing plant through computer screens," introduced Zhang Yunlong, Chairman of Shandong Xinhai Mining Group. This smart mine full-process solution has served over 100 countries and regions worldwide.
Zhang Yunlong cited an example: at a gold mine project in Zimbabwe with a daily processing capacity of 500 tons, a 100,000-square-meter clean energy supply system was built on-site, saving approximately 75% in costs compared to diesel power generation, while making the mine environment more livable.
Green Technology Breakthroughs
In the exhibition hall, a large magnetic separator attracted many visitors. While maintaining the same processing capacity and separation performance, the new technology reduced equipment size by approximately 50%, lowered operating energy consumption by about 30%, and improved separation performance by approximately 20%. Li Chaopeng, Deputy General Manager of Shenyang Longji Electromagnetic Technology, introduced that the equipment has been applied in over 70 countries and regions, and was recently deployed at an iron ore project in Brazil.
Global Recognition and Cooperation
These green practices from China attracted the attention of Andrew Sack, an Australian mining professional. "Chinese enterprises attach great importance to sustainable development and have established rigorous relevant standards," Andrew said. China has built a complete institutional system, standard system, and evaluation system for green mining development, constructed over 5,000 green mines, and vigorously promoted technologies such as backfill mining, solid waste comprehensive utilization, and clean energy substitution in mining areas.
The "Tianjin Declaration on Green Mining Development" released at the conference called on more countries, international organizations, and stakeholders to actively respond and work together to promote the green and low-carbon transformation of global mining and promote global sustainable development.
Chinese mining companies are also actively participating in international cooperation projects. Zijin Mining has been building green mines in the Democratic Republic of the Congo according to Chinese ecological civilization standards, and in Serbia, it has been advancing green ecological environment management in mining areas, extending the green footprint of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Dmitry Tetenkin, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia, stated that "digital technology," "promoting rational resource utilization," and "reducing environmental burden" are no longer distant topics but necessary conditions for the modern development of the mining industry.
