Construction Machinery: Shandong and Hunan Join Forces to Build a World-Class Construction Machinery Industrial Cluster

On September 5, the 2026 (7th) Shandong-Hunan Construction Machinery Industry Chain High-Quality Development Cooperation Exchange Event was held in Jining, Shandong Province. Representatives from industry and information technology departments, industry associations, research institutions, and over 200 upstream and downstream enterprises from both provinces gathered to discuss cross-regional collaborative development under the theme "Shandong-Hunan Chain Connectivity for Strong Cooperation, Building a New Ecosystem for Construction Machinery Development."

In 2025, China's construction machinery industry achieved total revenue of RMB 874.9 billion, with total profit of RMB 57.5 billion, up 28.1%. Product exports reached USD 60.23 billion, a year-on-year increase of 13.9%. In the 2026 Global Top 50 Construction Machinery Manufacturers list, 13 Chinese companies were ranked — surpassing the United States, Japan, and Germany to lead the world. Hunan contributed 5 companies and Shandong 3, forming the two growth poles of China's construction machinery industry in the south and north respectively.

Despite their geographical distance, Shandong and Hunan are closely connected through industrial collaboration, forming two highly complementary blocks in China's construction machinery landscape. The inaugural conference in 2020 launched cross-regional collaboration; in 2023, the two provinces jointly signed the "Initiative on Strengthening Regional Industrial Chain Collaborative Cooperation to Promote Construction Machinery Industry High-Quality Development," formally establishing the "South Hunan, North Shandong" industrial pattern. Over six years, cooperation has evolved from simple supply-demand matching to joint R&D and coordinated overseas expansion, becoming a national model for cross-regional industrial chain integration.
