SINOTRUK Leads the Pack as August Heavy Truck Sales Exceed 86,000 Units
According to the latest data, in August 2026, the domestic heavy truck market recorded total sales of 86,000 units, a slight year-on-year decline of 6.1% (this is the third consecutive year-on-year decline in the heavy truck industry this year, and the first time a two-month consecutive decline has occurred), with a month-on-month micro-increase of 2.4%. From January to August, the domestic heavy truck market recorded cumulative sales of 831,000 units, an increase of 115,000 units compared to the same period last year (715,000 units), representing a year-on-year growth of 16.1%.
In an August heavy truck market characterized by a slight year-on-year decline and a micro month-on-month increase, how did the top 10 enterprises perform, and what changes occurred in the market landscape?
In August, four companies exceeded 10,000 units in monthly sales, two achieved year-on-year growth exceeding 50%, and three moved up in rankings. Specifically, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group (Sinotruk) continued to hold the top position with 30,050 units sold in August, making it the only company among the top ten to surpass 30,000 units in monthly sales. It achieved a year-on-year surge of 17.5%, capturing a market share of 34.9%, further consolidating its leading position against an industry-wide downturn. FAW Jiefang performed impressively, rising to second place with 13,268 units and a market share of 15.4%. Shaanxi Automobile held steady in third place with 11,485 units and a 13.3% market share.
Notably, XCMG and Jianghuai Automobile delivered standout growth curves. XCMG sold 4,500 units in August, a year-on-year surge of 54.2%, raising its market share to 5.2%. Jianghuai Motors also achieved high growth, selling 1,235 units, a year-on-year increase of 53.6%.
Cumulatively from January to August, the heavy truck market reached 831,000 units (with five companies exceeding 110,000 units in cumulative sales), a year-on-year growth of 16.1%. Sinotruk led with cumulative sales of nearly 250,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 26.2%, with a cumulative market share of 29.9%, approaching 30%, continuing to widen the gap with the second-ranked company. FAW Jiefang held second place with 140,000 units, up 6.0% year-on-year, with a 16.8% share. Shaanxi Automobile ranked third with 122,000 units, up 5.4%, and a 14.8% share.
Looking at the competitive landscape, Sinotruk, Foton, and Shandong Leichi were the three companies that gained market share year-on-year. Foton Motor sold 113,000 units cumulatively through August, a year-on-year increase of 24.9%, with a market share of 13.6%.
