At the National Agricultural Equipment Innovation Center (Luoyang Intelligent Agricultural Equipment Research Institute Co., Ltd.), a 50-horsepower silver unmanned hydrogen-powered tractor was demonstrated. According to the center's technical staff, this "iron bull of the future" adopts a hybrid architecture combining a hydrogen fuel cell with a lithium battery pack. Hydrogen refueling takes only 5 minutes, enabling 4 hours of continuous operation, with zero exhaust emissions throughout the entire process.

Powered by 5G technology, the tractor can perceive its surroundings and vehicle status in real time, supporting both remote control and autonomous driving modes. It can also proactively identify and avoid obstacles, stacking smart capabilities to the fullest.

From Tractors to Crop Protection: Hydrogen Technology Expands

Beyond tractors, the research team has extended hydrogen energy technology to the crop protection domain, launching a hydrogen-powered self-propelled corn boom sprayer. This machine overcomes the challenge of high-clearance operations and fills the industry gap in hydrogen-powered crop protection equipment.

Simultaneously, a wheel-motor electric tractor, an L3-level pure electric transplanting machine, and other new-energy agricultural machines have been unveiled in succession, signaling that an electrified and unmanned agricultural machinery matrix is rapidly taking shape.

100-HP Wheel-Motor Tractor: Precision Farming at 2.5 Centimeters

The 100-horsepower wheel-motor electric tractor is another key representative of China's agricultural machinery automation. Beyond autonomous driving capabilities, each wheel can be independently controlled, enabling oblique steering, counter-direction steering, in-place rotation, and other complex maneuvering modes. It supports not only remote-controlled operations but also autonomous operation via a mobile app with point-setting and navigation functions. Its millimeter-wave radar achieves a positioning accuracy of 2.5 centimeters, enabling automatic obstacle avoidance.

The National Agricultural Equipment Innovation Center, where these innovations were developed, is China's first and only national-level manufacturing innovation center in the agricultural machinery sector. It was jointly established by China YTO Group, Zoomlion Agricultural Machinery, Jiangsu Yueda, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Mechanization Sciences, and Qingyan Luoyang, among more than 10 other entities.

In addition to the "Silver Bull" wheel-motor tractor, the center has also developed China's first 5G-enabled hydrogen fuel cell electric tractor, a large-feed multi-function combine harvester that fills the domestic gap in large-feed harvesters, and an intelligent agricultural equipment management platform.
