Tire Industry: Wave of Price Rises(Sep 16)
Zhongce and Sailun Announce Price Increases: 60+ Price Increase Notices Hit the Tire Industry
Zhongce Rubber and Sailun Group, two industry giants, announced price increases on the same day, pushing the tire price surge to a new climax.
Zhongce Rubber's price increase notice shows: starting September 16, prices for certain TBR (Truck and Bus Radial) products will increase by 2%-5%, with an explicit advance notice of another increase on October 1. This rare "double increase" approach highlights the urgency of cost pressures. Zhongce stated that it has absorbed some cost increases through energy conservation and refined management, but "the current round of raw material price increases far exceeds expectations, and the company cannot fully absorb them."
This is Zhongce's second move this month. On September 7, it announced a 3%-5% increase for all-steel engineering tires effective September 15, and a further 3% increase for other OTR (Off-the-Road) products on October 1, emphasizing that "the adjustment幅度 is far below the actual cost increase."
Sailun: Two Increases in Ten Days
On the same day, Sailun Group also announced a price increase: TBR product prices will increase by 2%-3% starting October 1. Combined with the 3%-5% OTR product increase announced on September 12 (effective September 20), Sailun has formed a dual-line price increase covering both truck/bus tires and OTR tires.
Industry-Wide Follow-Up: 60+ Price Increase Notices
Triangle Tire raised prices twice in one month: commercial vehicle tires up 2%-3% on September 1, and passenger vehicle tires up 2%-5% on October 1. Cheng Shin Rubber adjusted prices three times: inner tubes, TBR, and passenger vehicle tires increasing 1%-5% on September 1, 25, and October 1 respectively.
According to statistics, price increase notices from Zhongce, Sailun, Linglong, Gitai, Maxxis, Cheng Shin, Wanli, Double Star, Triangle, Kumho, Double Coin, Fengshen, and other enterprises have exceeded 60, covering all product categories with no exceptions.
Price Increases Far From Over
Notably, multiple companies' price increase notices repeatedly mention phrases such as "far from covering costs" and "October re-adjustment," indicating that a second round of price increases is already underway. If raw material prices remain high, tire prices may continue to climb in the fourth quarter. For distributors, reasonable stockpiling and advance planning have become urgent priorities.
