Amazon’s first global smart hub warehouse has opened in Shenzhen.

　　On the 15th, Amazon announced that its first Amazon Global Smart Hub Warehouse (Global Warehousing and Distribution, GWD) in Shenzhen has officially opened to sellers.

　　According to the introduction, GWD is a one-stop bulk warehousing and distribution service established by Amazon at the source location, covering services such as warehousing, customs clearance, cross-border transportation, and inventory allocation, seamlessly connecting to Amazon's global logistics (FBA) network. Currently, the Shenzhen GWD supports shipments to Amazon operation centers in the United States, and it will gradually expand to sites in Europe, Japan, and other locations in the future, with plans to set up new warehouses in the Yangtze River Delta region.

　　For a long time, cross-border sellers have faced challenges such as high costs, high risks, and operational complexity when expanding into overseas markets. Under the traditional model, sellers need to send large quantities of goods to overseas warehouses in the destination country in advance, which can lead to inventory overstock and capital occupation if sales fall short of expectations. GWD establishes smart hubs locally, allowing sellers to store goods in bulk domestically first and then flexibly allocate them to operation centers in different countries based on actual sales conditions, avoiding "heavy warehouse betting."

　　The first batch of trial enterprises provided positive feedback. Chen Junbin, founder of Shenzhen Lightning Technology, stated that his pet food storage bucket products have long production cycles and high requirements for replenishment timeliness. GWD's flexible shipping schedules and simplified customs clearance processes have shortened the overall logistics cycle by 3 days to 2 weeks. Guo Hongtao, logistics manager at Beisqi Innovative Technology, believes that GWD provides a cost-effective storage solution for long-tail products and is expected to help new products undergo low-cost, rapid testing at multiple global sites in the future.

　　Chen Ming, Vice President of Amazon China, stated that with the launch and gradual expansion of GWD in Shenzhen, Chinese cross-border e-commerce enterprises will gain more stable, intelligent, and flexible global supply chain support, further lowering the threshold for going overseas and enhancing international competitiveness.
