Vietnam's Tianxiang exports fell by 18% in the first four months of 2023, and demand in the Chinese market remained strong
On May 31, according to the latest data, in the first four months of 2023, Vietnam's natural rubber exports dropped by 18% compared with the same period last year, reaching a total of 164,000 tons. Among them, the export volume of standard rubber was 110,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 20%; the export volume of tobacco sheet rubber was 18,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 18%; and the export volume of latex was 33,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 18%.
At the same time, Vietnam's mixed rubber exports increased by 8.6% during the January-April period to 317,000 tons, an increase from 292,000 tons in the same period last year. Among them, the export volume of SVR3L mixed rubber was 63,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 8.6%; the export volume of SVR10 mixed rubber was 250,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 8.7%; and the export volume of RSS3 mixed rubber was 5,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 33%.
In addition, Vietnam's natural rubber exports to the Chinese market also showed significant growth during the period from January to April, reaching 37,000 tons, an increase of 68% from 22,000 tons in the same period last year.
Similarly, Vietnam's mixed rubber exports to the Chinese market also showed a positive trend, with a total export volume reaching 317,000 tons, an increase of 8.6% from 292,000 tons in the same period last year. Among them, the export volume of SVR3L mixed rubber was 63,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 8.6%; the export volume of SVR10 mixed rubber was 250,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 8.7%; and the export volume of RSS3 mixed rubber was 4,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 14%.
Overall, from January to April this year, Vietnam's total exports of natural rubber and mixed rubber were 481,000 tons, a decrease of 2.4% from 493,000 tons in the same period last year. However, during this period, Vietnam's rubber exports to the Chinese market showed a clear growth trend, with export volume reaching 354,000 tons, an increase of 13% from 314,000 tons in the same period last year. This shows that Vietnam's rubber industry is becoming increasingly competitive in the Chinese market.
