Transformation and development of China Coal! New construction of 1 million tons of coal-based olefin new material project is promoted

On the afternoon of September 8, 2023, Wu Yuefei, member of the standing Committee of Shuozhou Municipal Party Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province, organized the 63rd special class meeting of China Coal Pingshuo Coal-based Olefins New Materials and downstream Deep processing Integration Project.

Responsible comrades of the Municipal Party Committee, the Pinglu District Government, the responsible comrades of the Pinglu Economic and technological Development Zone, the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, the Science and Technology Bureau, the Industry and Information Bureau, the Finance Bureau, the Planning and Natural Resources Bureau, the Ecological Environment Bureau, the Industrial Technology Research Institute and other relevant departments of the city, as well as responsible comrades of China Coal Pingshuo Group Co., Ltd., State Network Shuozhou Power supply Company and other enterprises attended the meeting.

Recently, Wang Shudong, chairman of China Coal Group, visited the project site and fully affirmed the preliminary work of the project, and proposed to increase the coupling of green hydrogen to improve the level of energy saving and carbon reduction, pointing out the direction for the next step of work. The special class of olefin project should come up with hard measures and put forward good methods, without hesitation and distraction to promote all kinds of work, and strive to approve the project as soon as possible.

On September 7, Wang Shudong, party committee secretary and chairman of China Coal Group, went deep into Pingshuo Group and Pingshuo Development Company to investigate the industrial park and east open-pit mine of the new coal-based olefin materials and downstream deep processing integration project of China Coal Pingshuo. Listen to the progress of the coal-based olefin project, coal supply, operation and management, intelligent construction work in the East Open-pit Mine, as well as the trial operation of 120-ton charging trucks.

The coal-based olefin new materials and downstream deep processing integration project of China Coal Energy Group Co., Ltd. is an energy transformation project for Shuozhou City and China Coal Group to give full play to the advantages of the integration of coal, electricity, chemical, water and new energy in Pingshuo mining area, using Pingshuo high-sulfur, high-ash melting point raw coal, deep coupling of green electricity, green hydrogen and other carbon reduction paths to produce high-end coal-based olefin new materials.
Wu Yuefei stressed: the coal-based olefin project is not only a major project for the transformation and development of Pingshuo City, but also the largest single investment project of China Coal Group, which plays an important exemplary and leading role.
The project has a total investment of 29.78 billion yuan, covers an area of about 2940 mu, and has a construction period of 3 years. It can produce 2.2 million tons of methanol per year and convert to 1 million tons of coal-based olefin new materials. The project is located in Chaoyang New material Industrial Park, Pinglu Economic and technological Development Zone, and the coal used is high-sulfur coal in the east open-pit mine. The project consists of 2.2 million tons / year coal to methanol, 800000 tons / year methanol to olefins and olefin separation, 400000 tons / year polyethylene, 200000 tons / year polypropylene, 200000 tons / year hydrogen peroxide plant, 300000 tons / year HPPO plant, 300000 tons / year polyether polyol plant, 100000 tons / year PPC plant and other large-scale chemical production units and supporting public works and auxiliary facilities.

China Coal Group focuses on building large-scale coal chemical bases such as Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi and Shanxi, and arranges coal-to-olefin projects. Up to now, China Coal Group, including its subsidiaries and participating companies, has five olefin companies under production, construction and planning: China Coal Shaanxi Yulin Energy and Chemical Co., Ltd. (phase I and II), Inner Mongolia China Coal Meng Daxin Energy and Chemical Co., Ltd., Shaanxi Yanchang China Coal Yulin Energy and Chemical Co., Ltd. (phase I and II), Zhongtian Hechuang Energy Co., Ltd. And China Coal Pingshuo Group Co., Ltd.
Since 2010, China Coal Group has laid out modern coal chemical projects in Yulin, Shaanxi, Ordos, Inner Mongolia and Shuozhou, Shanxi. It has completed 600000 tons / year coal-to-olefin project in Yulin, 600000 tons / year engineering plastic project in Mengda, 1 million tons of synthetic ammonia and 1.75 million tons urea project in Ordos Stoke, 600000 tons / year coal-to-methanol project in Yuanxing, and demonstration project of comprehensive utilization of inferior coal in Pingshuo, Shanxi. And participate in Shaanxi Yulin Energy and Chemical Co., Ltd. (1.9 million tons / year olefins), Zhongtian Hechuang Energy Co., Ltd. (1.37 million tons / year olefins), Hebei China Coal Xuyang Coking Co., Ltd., currently in Jiantuke 1 million tons / year coal to methanol project and preparation for the construction of Yulin Phase II. Coal chemical products mainly include olefins, methanol, urea, ammonium nitrate, coke and so on, with an equity production capacity of about 10 million tons.
