On October 20, the new generation of air turbine compressor unit jointly developed by Shen Drum Group Co., Ltd. and Hangzhou Steam Turbine Power Group Co., Ltd. passed the mid-term review of industrial operation organized by China General Machinery Industry Association. This unit is currently the matching compressor unit of the single air separation unit with the largest oxygen production in China. it is used in the third phase of coal-to-olefin project of Ningxia Baofeng Energy Group. It was put into industrial operation in February 2023 and has been running smoothly for more than 5000 hours.

The evaluation meeting was presided over by Oriole, president of China General Machinery Industry Association. The evaluation panel, headed by Sui Yongbin, former chief engineer of the China Machinery Industry Federation, and composed of 9 industry authoritative experts, listened to the situation reports of the development and application units, and gave the final evaluation opinions after on-site inspection.

The opinion of the review pointed out that the new generation (661) air turbine compressor unit is successful, various technical indicators meet the requirements of relevant standards, reach the advanced level of similar international products, and the unit efficiency and vibration value are better than foreign imported products, which is another important breakthrough in the localization of China's major equipment. This achievement can be popularized and applied in large-scale oil refining and chemical industry, coal chemical industry and other fields.

According to Wang Chuanghua, deputy chief engineer and chief expert of Shen Drum Group, the new generation (6x1) air turbine compressor unit adopts axial flow + centrifugal coaxial structure, which is upgraded from the first generation 8 stage axial flow + 2 stage centrifugal structure to 6 stage axial flow + 1 stage centrifugal structure. the size of the unit is reduced by 25%, the weight is reduced by 30%, the manufacturing cycle is shortened by 20%, the single-stage pressure ratio of the axial flow section is increased by 3% and 11%, and the efficiency of the section is increased by 2%. It can produce 105000 standard cubic meters of oxygen per hour. The overall mechanical performance of the air separation unit is excellent, safe and stable, and the energy consumption index is slightly better than that of imported equipment.

It is understood that the compressor units supporting extra-large air separation units in China have relied on imports for a long time. In August 2015, China's first 100,000 class air separation compressor developed by Shen Drum Group passed acceptance, marking that China has become the second country in the world to be able to design and manufacture compressors for super-large air separation units. Shen Drum Group has become the third company in the world to produce such products after Germany's Siemens and Man Turbine.
Han Yisong, deputy general manager of Hangzhou oxygen Group, believes that after more than 10 years of development, the performance of domestic compressor units has been greatly improved, the on-site operation is stable and reliable, and the operation of long period and full load has been achieved. the technical level of imported units is about to enter a state of catch-up. The market prospect of domestic units is broad and there is a bright future.

Gao Jianjun, executive vice president of Ningxia Baofeng Energy Group Co., Ltd., said that the new generation axial flow + centrifugal air turbine compressor unit of the extra-large air separation unit has been put into operation in the third phase of Ningdong project since March this year. After nearly 5000 hours of industrial operation, the unit runs smoothly, the equipment performance meets the process requirements, and the operation goal of "safe, stable, long, full and excellent" is achieved. The localization of large-scale air separation units has put an end to the history of China's inability to produce heavy equipment and greatly shortened the cycle of delivery, transportation, installation and commissioning. It is precisely because there are a number of responsible enterprises and national enterprises, such as Shen Drum, Hangzhou Automobile, Hangzhou oxygen, and so on, which have greatly promoted the process of localization and internationalization of air separation equipment, raised the overall level of China's heavy machinery manufacturing, and provided a solid guarantee for the safe development of the national economy.
