South Korean industry has made important breakthroughs in reducing carbon emissions, successfully developing China's first tire made from chemically recycled PET(polyester) material, and has successfully achieved commercialization. This innovative achievement benefits from the close cooperation of SK Chemical, Hyosung High-tech Materials and Hankook Tire.

This special tire for electric vehicles called "iON" uses a unique "recycled PET(polyester) fiber tire cord." Recycling technology is a chemical recycling technology exclusively developed by SK Chemical. It decomposes waste plastics into molecular units through chemical reactions and then uses these raw materials to produce recycled plastics. This is the first time in South Korea that this technology has been applied in tire products and commercialized in the market.
