The breeding team of the Rubber Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (referred to as the Rubber Institute of the Chinese Academy of Thermal Sciences) has recently made a major breakthrough and successfully developed an efficient breeding system, shortening the rubber tree breeding cycle from more than 40 years to a full 14 years. Through innovative breeding techniques and methods, they have made China one of the countries with the shortest and most efficient rubber tree breeding cycles in the world, and provided strong support for the development of China's rubber industry.

It takes at least 41 years for traditional breeding procedures to complete the entire process, and during this period, it has to go through multiple procedures such as parental crossing, primary sexual line comparison, primary clone comparison, advanced clone comparison, and clone regional testing. However, the breeding team of the Rubber Institute of the Chinese Academy of Thermal Sciences has established early prediction and identification technology, and the application of this technology has greatly shortened the breeding cycle.

The breeding team also successfully bred the ultra-high-yield variety "Reyan 879". The yield per mu of this variety has increased by more than 50% compared with the control, making it currently the highest yield per mu of rubber tree in the world. The widespread application of this variety has provided variety guarantee for China's light wind and light cold rubber planting areas, and promoted the development of the rubber industry and high-yield rubber planting in this region.

The breakthrough of the breeding team of the Rubber Institute of the Chinese Academy of Thermal Sciences not only injects new vitality into the development of the rubber industry, but also lays a solid foundation for China's improvement in its position in the global rubber market.
