On April 7, Trelleborg Medical Business Unit recently announced that it is building a vast production base in the Evolution Free Zone Industrial Park in Costa Rica. The base covers an area of 10,000 square meters and is expected to be officially completed in 2025, becoming Trelleborg's first important production facility in Central America.

Trelleborg Healthcare's move is to further achieve its strategic goal of helping customers integrate value chains and reduce operating costs. The new base will not only strengthen supply chain continuity, but also provide solid support to key customers seeking to outsource offshore production through its global manufacturing and distribution network. Linda, President, Medical Business Unit Muroski said their goal is to provide customers with one-stop manufacturing services for medical equipment, parts and components. By centralizing production and assembly, transportation and supply chain management costs are significantly reduced, thereby saving customers money and improving their market competitiveness and profitability. At the same time, this approach also allows customers to focus more on promoting medical innovation.

According to the Carbon Black Industry Network, this new production base will focus on core processes such as liquid silicone rubber molding, impregnation, thermoplastic production and assembly to meet the growth needs of customers in the medical field. It is worth mentioning that the base will also introduce clean room production technology and strive to meet strict industry standards for medical device manufacturing. In addition, Trelleborg has focused on possible future expansion and has obtained the right of first refusal on adjacent properties, demonstrating its determination as a long-term partner in the medical market.

The location of the Evolution Industrial Park not only reflects Trelleborg's emphasis on sustainable development customers, but also conforms to the company's grand vision of achieving net-zero emissions by 2035. The buildings of the new production base will pursue Leading Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification and adopt environmental protection measures such as rainwater harvesting and energy-saving building design.
