Recently, a large-scale strike broke out at Sumitomo Rubber Turkish Tire Factory. The strike has lasted for a week and has seriously affected the normal production of the factory. The strike was rooted in a serious labor dispute between factory management and approximately 2400 workers.

It is understood that the negotiation process of this labor dispute has lasted for five months, but unfortunately, in the end, the two sides failed to reach a consensus, causing the workers to choose to strike to express their demands. Employee representatives said in an interview: "Currently, the average annual salary paid by the factory to workers is about US$26000. We have been working hard to increase this figure to more than US$30000, but this is still not enough for us, and the factory believes that this requirement is too high."

According to Carbon Black Industry Network, Sumitomo Rubber Turkey Factory has been one of the leaders in Turkey's tire production capacity since its establishment in 2013. The factory is 80% controlled by Sumitomo Rubber Industries Co., Ltd., and local company Abdulkadir Özcan Lastik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.. Hold the remaining 20% of the shares. The factory has a total investment of US$500 million and a designed production capacity of 30,000 tires per day. It mainly produces semi-steel radial tires, which enjoy a high reputation in the market.

However, due to the impact of the strike, the factory's daily tire production capacity in the week before the strike has dropped sharply to 13,000 pieces. It is expected that during the entire strike period, the factory will reduce production by about 160,000 tires, which will undoubtedly have a considerable impact on the company's economic efficiency and market supply. At present, the two sides are still conducting intensive negotiations on labor disputes, hoping to find a solution as soon as possible and resume normal production at the factory.
