The first set of calcium sulfate whiskers preparation project from carbide slag was put into operation

June 12, 2024, 5:07 PM At 14:48 pm on June 10, Henan Kaixiang Chemical Co., Ltd. opened the entire process at one time and produced qualified calcium sulfate whisker products with an annual output of 10,000 tons of carbide slag, marking the first set of calcium sulfate whisker preparation in China. The calcium sulfate whisker project was officially put into operation.
It is reported that the project will start construction in July 2022, be mechanically completed in December 2023, trial production will begin on May 17, 2024, and on June 10, the entire process will be opened and qualified products will be produced. At present, the main performance indicators such as calcium sulfate content and whiteness of the products have all met group standards. The project uses solid waste carbide slag produced during the production of 1,4-butanediol by the enterprise as raw material, and adopts mature hydrothermal synthesis method and crystallization process to produce calcium sulfate whisker products. The project belongs to a green, resource-based and recycling project. The implementation of the project can help enterprises eliminate potential safety and environmental protection hazards in solid waste storage, transportation and disposal, and at the same time further stretch the existing industrial chain and product chain to achieve a true sense. A "double harvest" situation of economic benefits and green environmental protection.
Calcium sulfate whiskers combine the advantages of reinforcing fibers and ultra-fine inorganic fillers.
