According to customs data, China imported 421900 tons of titanium ore in May 2024, an increase of 2.26 percent over the same period last year, an increase of 28.42 percent month-on-month, with an average monthly price of US $290.98 per tonne. From January to May 2024, China imported about 1.9254 million tons of titanium ore, an increase of 3.38 percent over the same period last year, and imports increased by about 62900 tons.

Among them, the top three countries in May were Mozambique, Norway and Australia, accounting for 48%, 17% and 10% of the total imports, respectively.

From January to May 2024, the country with the largest increase in imports of titanium ore was Egypt, with an increase of 64300 tons, South Korea by 60400 tons and Nigeria by 53400 tons. Mozambican imports fell the most, by 87800 tons, Vietnam by 56200 tons and Kenya by 50400 tons.

In May 2024, China exported 13321.20 tons of titanium ore, an increase of 785.95% over the same period last year and 96.52% month-on-month growth. From January to May 2024, China exported a total of about 35100 tons of titanium ore, an increase of 158.46% over the same period last year, and the export volume increased by about 21500 tons.

Titanium dioxide

In May 2024, China imported 9082.03 tons of titanium dioxide, an increase of 40.94 percent over the same period last year, an increase of 34.12 percent over the same period last year. Among them, imports of titanium dioxide from sulfuric acid process in May were 2194.52 tons, down 27.33 percent from the previous month; and imports of titanium dioxide from chlorination process were 6887.52 tons in May, up 83.60 percent from the previous month.

From January to May 2024, China imported a total of about 40100 tons of titanium dioxide, an increase of 59.67 percent over the same period last year, and an increase of about 15000 tons.

Among them, the top three regions of titanium dioxide imports in May 2024 are Mexico, Australia and the United States, accounting for 34%, 20% and 18% of the total imports respectively.

In May 2024, China's exports of titanium dioxide were 149300 tons, down 5.14 percent from the previous month, an increase of 3.22 percent over the same period last year. Among them, exports of titanium dioxide from sulfuric acid process in May were 126300 tons, up 0.85 percent from the previous month; and exports of titanium dioxide from chlorination process were 23000 tons in May, down 28.48 percent from the same period last year.

From January to May 2024, China exported a total of about 796200 tons of titanium dioxide, an increase of 12.04 percent over the same period last year, and exports increased by about 85600 tons.

Among them, the top three countries in May were India, Brazil and South Korea, accounting for 16%, 9% and 6% of the total exports, respectively.

In May 2024, the average monthly import price of titanium dioxide was US $3211.86 / ton, down 7.26% from the previous month; in May, the average monthly export price of titanium dioxide was US $2299.82 / ton, an increase of 0.03% over the previous month.

Sponge titanium

In May 2024, China imported 0 tons of sponge titanium, and from January to May, China imported 0 tons of sponge titanium, a decrease of about 110.91 tons in the same period last year.

In May 2024, China exported 457.9 tons of sponge titanium, an increase of 150.90 percent over the same period last year, a decrease of 46.01 percent over the same period last year. From January to May 2024, China's cumulative exports of sponge titanium were about 1759.9 tons, down 20.67 percent from the same period last year, and exports decreased by about 458.57 tons.

In May 2024, the top three regions of sponge titanium export were the United States, South Korea and Germany, accounting for 55%, 31% and 4%, respectively.
