Apollo to ship tyres from Chennai and Hungary for US/Canada markets

Distributor Apollo Tires says that prior to launch, the tires were tested through a team service provided by Waste Removal/Transportation of America and compared to Tier 1 competitors over multiple retread cycles.

Indian automotive tire giant Apollo Tyres Ltd. plans to market commercial vehicle tires made at its Chennai and Hungary plants to the U.S. and Canadian markets.

Apollo Tyres will sell truck and bus tires in the US and Canada under the Apollo brand.

The company enters the passenger car segment, and its tire segment enters the U.S. and Canadian markets under the Vredestein dominant brand.

“Apollo’s range of North American truck and bus tires will be produced at state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Hungary and Chennai, India, and has the capacity and technical expertise to reliably deliver tires to these markets.” The company said.

The Apollo truck tire lineup includes a variety of regional, supra-regional, passenger/urban and mixed applications with rim sizes ranging from 17.5 varying inches to 24.5 inches.

Apollo said it plans to have 13 SKUs this year, increasing to 23 by the second half of 2022 for an SKU count of 45. By 2024, the total number of SKUs will reach 45, representing 90% of the market share.

Apollo Tires said ahead of the launch that the tire is being used on vehicles with U.S. waste removal/transportation firms to compare against Tier 1 competitors across multiple retread cycles.
