French tyre major Michelin, IIT Bombay join hands for sustainable mobility research

NEW DELHI: French tire giant Michelin on Tuesday said he has partnered with IIT Bombay’s Monash Institute for next-generation sustainable mobility research. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Michelin Technology Center India Pune and IIT Monash Institute Mumbai.

He added that the collaboration with the IITB-Monash Institute will foster co-development and promote closer cooperation in the field of sustainable transportation.

The tire maker said the partnership will last for five years and is expected to develop several projects in the Indian mobility space.

“The objective of the IITB-Monash Institute partnership with Michelin is to carry out application-oriented translational research,” said MS Unnikrishnan, CEO, IITB-Monash Institute.

He added that professors from IIT Bombay and Monash University in Australia will collaborate with Michelin on this result-oriented program aimed at developing mobile technologies for the future.

IITB-Monash Institute was established in 2008 2000 as a Joint Venture (JV) The institute aims to strengthen research collaboration between India and Australia.

The mission of the Institute is to promote cutting-edge research through PhD programs that are application-focused, leveraging IITB’s world-class infrastructure alongside Monash University (Melbourne) to develop high-impact solutions in its key areas.
