Bosch opens new manufacturing plant in Karnataka

Bengaluru: Auto component maker Bosch today opened a new manufacturing plant near Bidadi with an investment of Rs 34 crore.

The plant is spread over an area of 380,000 square meters where Diesel System Gear products will be manufactured.

In a statement, Bosch GmbH said, “This new manufacturing plant will produce diesel products previously produced at the Adugodi plant and will have more than 2,600 employees working on site.”

The Bidadi plant is the 14th plant in India and will produce common rail pumps and rails in Phase I and existing injection pumps in Phase II.

Bosch added that it expects to double sales in the Asia-Pacific region by 2020 2014, citing the target set by the company for the 2014 year.

Stephan Burns, President of Bosch, said that the Bidadidi Industrial Park, which is being developed, will provide more space and better infrastructure to support the company’s future expansion.

He added, “In the long run, this will help us meet the growing business needs of the Indian market. We see tremendous growth potential in India and are committed to bringing more projects, products and manufacturing to the country in the future.”

Bosch has started production of Common Rail Fuel Injection System pumps in Bidadi and will start production of Common Rail Fuel Injection System pumps in 2016 to 2017 Common Rail Fuel Injection Pumps year to produce an updated version.

The construction of the Bidadi plant will be carried out in two phases, with the second phase scheduled for completion in 2018. The plant was inaugurated in the presence of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Bosch shares were trading at Rs 23, 350 per share on the BSE, up 2.74% from the previous close.
