BMW Brilliance recalls 172,000 5 Series vehicles, software problems may cause a black screen in the instrument cluster

According to the website of the State Administration for Market Regulation, BMW Brilliance Automobile Co., Ltd. recently filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the requirements of the “Regulations on the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recall” and the “Implementation Measures for the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recall”, with effect from now on. A total of 171828 domestic 5 Series vehicles were recalled from September 2, 2019 to December 26, 2020.

Due to software problems, vehicles within the scope of this recall may have a black screen on the combination instrument and cannot display necessary vehicle information (such as speed, etc.), posing a safety hazard.
This recall was carried out after the State Administration for Market Regulation initiated a defect investigation. BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. will program software for vehicles within the recalled scope free of charge to eliminate safety hazards.
