Volvo’s S90 T6 design is the most amazing, but the retention is small and the sound insulation is slightly weak. After a test drive of the S5 sport back, Audi always felt a lack of communication. The ultimate goal is the newly modified 5 series and the current X6. Between the two, there is no doubt that the 5 series is the one with stronger product power, but the 5 series for 5 series is a bit lack of freshness. X6 level is higher, cost-effective is also good, subject to the physical properties of the large body, high center of gravity, compared with the shortcomings of the 5 series are slightly weaker handling and comfort, coupled with the upcoming generation, the design language is still in the previous generation. In hesitation, BMW first offered me an 18-model 540i test drive for three days.

Different from the domestic version, the standard axis 540i is equipped with an Xdrive four-wheel drive system to adapt to the long Canadian winter, B58 3.0T straight 6335 horsepower, 450 Nm, 0-100 km acceleration 4.7 seconds. The one you get is equipped with M SPORT PACKAGE,PREMIUM ENHANCED and so on, including enhanced M brake calipers, adaptive suspension, driving assistance system, head up display, etc., the overall configuration level is very high, and the landing price in Canada has reached the threshold of nearly $90,000, which is on the same level as the almost configured X535i.

Next, I would like to share with you what I have learned in the past few days. As a five-series car owner for three years, I can also personally experience the promotion and differences between the F10 and G30 generations. I think the thinking of BMW in this period is very similar to that of Audi in this era. Evolution rather than revolution is improving in all aspects, but it is not as revolutionary as Mercedes-Benz.
Let’s start with a few shortcomings:
1) I can obviously feel that the only thing that is retrogressive at present is athleticism. The same as the standard axis, compared with the previous generation of 5 series, it can be said that the sports of this generation of G30 is reduced. Even at 540 of 335 horsepower, the power output is still very restrained and linear when stepping on the throttle deeply, without the feeling that the previous generation stepped on the throttle, the car paused and then the power spurted out, and the engine and exhaust noise were much milder. The car is still fast and the powertrain is very delicate, but it lacks a lot of passion for driving that originally belonged to BMW. In addition, the suspension and steering system convey less information to drivers than the previous generation, and the sense of advanced is increased, but the sense of participation and movement of driving is reduced, even in SPORT PLUS mode.

The advantages are, of course, obvious.
1) the significantly improved comfort, quieter carriages and more delicate suspension handling all create a more advanced driving texture. The workmanship and design of the car interior have been improved, and the construction of the carriage atmosphere has been significantly improved compared with the previous generation.
2) the benefit of the lightweight car body is very good, the car body is much more dynamic and flexible, and the center of gravity of the car body driven at the bend of the mountain road is smoother, driving a mixed road condition of about 1000 kilometers, and the fuel consumption has just reached 10 litres. the fuel consumption is already very low for the power performance of 540. after all, this is a medium-sized and large administrative car with 4.7 seconds, and the starting sound is very thick, and the speed of more than 140km / h can still give you a continuous sense of push. This is the unique advantage of 6-cylinder 3.0T.

The product power of the 5 series has always been one of the undisputed benchmark of this level. it is a bit regrettable that this generation of G30/G38 lacks athleticism, but as I said at the beginning, there are always choices in the process of growth, as well as in the process of growth and evolution of the 5 series. In addition to athleticism, the all-round improvement of the 540 allows you to have a very comprehensive and complete 5 series experience. Perhaps the 540 is relatively low-key in this price range, and the domestic price of 540 can already buy an entry-level 7-Series or X5, but if you want a car that pleases you rather than others, then it has sufficient power reserves. the advanced driving quality and relaxed driving style can be suitable for almost all occasions, and it will be a great choice for personal driving.
