BMW 5 series valve cover oil leakage is a common fault, the oil leakage point is basically located at the edge of the trapezoidal frame around the valve cover ignition coil, often because of high temperature and high pressure in the cylinder, accelerate the aging speed of the gasket, at the same time, because the valve cover uses PVC plastic, which is inconsistent with the linear expansion coefficient of aluminum alloy cylinder block, and because the design defects make the valve cover buckle pressure uneven, then oil leakage will become inevitable.

Method 2: replace the valve cover gasket of the original car, that is, remove the valve cover gasket of the original car, replace a new set of gasket, and then install it in situ, if operated properly, generally within the service life of the gasket, oil leakage can be solved completely.
Method 3: replace the valve cover and gasket of the original car at the same time, if operated properly, the oil leakage can be cured in the service life of the gasket.
Note: 1, tighten the bolt to pay attention to the appropriate strength, the new gasket bolt torque can reach 9N.m, too tight easy to break the aluminum bolt. 2. The fastening bolt sequence should be carried out first in the middle and then diagonally, so as to prevent the occurrence of stress concentration and reduce the service life.

4. The effect of valve chamber cover replacement.

The replacement is complete.

After changing the new pad, start the engine, check that there is no oil leakage around the valve cover, and feel that the horsepower of the car has increased, and the throttle response is positive. Check the data that there is no air leakage in the valve cover and the increase in pressure in the cylinder. The most important thing is that there is no oil leakage, the engine room is cleaner, and the danger of spontaneous combustion is eliminated.
