I don’t agree with the size of the steering wheel, it’s too stout, and my little brother’s hands are small, so I can’t adapt to it at first. M performance does not have the 2000km running-in of m power (although there are instructions in the user’s manual), but my younger brother does not deliberately run-in and often runs long distances and highways. Fuel consumption is OK, high speed 9 oil, city 16, comprehensive 12.4. The 68-liter fuel tank is not large, uses more cars and refuels frequently.

The chassis of the M550i is obviously adjusted along the road. In the past two years, BMW has gradually moved towards comfort, both good and bad. Quiet and comfortable driving is in line with my character. The North American five series has no air suspension, and the standard m adaptive suspension can quickly control and adjust the state of the shock absorber. The adjustment reaction speed and overall reliability are higher than that of air suspension, but the degree and range of adjustment are not as good as that of air suspension. Soft suspension in comfortable mode, fine filtering for uneven road surface, smoothness of zf8 speed gearbox is very suitable for daily commuting In sports mode, the suspension is tight, a lot harder, and the driving feeling is jolted a lot. M550i’s treatment of tire noise and sound insulation is in line with this level. Although the choice of pss performance tire, but completely do not feel the tire noise, the car sound insulation is also very good.

This zf8 gearbox deserves to be integrated, with an excellent shift experience and a smooth overall feel. The daily driving is continuous and frustrating, and the gear shift is unknown and smooth. The gearbox is much more aggressive under violent driving, and there is obvious frustration in the upshift, which has something to do with m performance’s adjustment of the gearbox (it is said that BMW requests a large engine annealing angle and torque volume to provide a stronger sense of movement after the upshift). This kind of gentle feeling is very much to my taste.

The shift was lower than expected. The easy, fuzzy steering feel with a large vacancy in comfortable mode made me have some doubts about the eight-cylinder m-performance when I first picked up the car. However, before and after the installation of 10 mm gaskets, there are a lot of heavy hands in the direction, which may also be related to their gradual adaptation to this car. It feels better in exercise mode, and the power damping increases, but the overall style does not change.

Although BMW officials have made it clear that the m550i is not suitable for not recommending off the track. But out of curiosity and holiday boredom, I took my car off the track twice. In the street roll suppression is also good at the original factory shock absorber in the track simply can not bear to look directly, the heat dissipation is not satisfactory, did not run a few laps to get off the field. It may be the reason for the new car, the brake foot feel and performance is still good (some people in the forum said that the m550i brake foot felt guilty, but it has not been found yet). But then again, it doesn’t make much sense to get off the track with the M550i. He belongs to the road and the street, so let mpower do it.
