I went to the 4S store for N times and checked all kinds of Baidu on the Internet, but there were very few cases. I often listened to myself in the road test to disassemble and repair, tossing and turning between 4S stores. I solved most of the serious abnormal noise problems. I hardly looked at the 5-series forum. I occasionally clicked on and saw a lot of riders troubled by abnormal noises. Abnormal noise can seriously affect a person’s driving condition and even lead to road anger. It took 2 years of research, maybe a few minutes to make motorists take fewer detours, so I decided to update the post.

Abnormal sound category 1

The day before yesterday window strange sound, the specific sound performance, driving on a slightly uneven road can be heard, click the sound is the most common sound source for the skylight and skylight tape friction caused by G38 and this generation of 7-series common problems, design defects, the solution is also the simplest, with BMW original silicon spray around the skylight can be solved, can maintain more than 3 months no longer sounded, and then ring spray can be. (how to judge as this kind of abnormal noise, the abnormal noise disappears after opening the skylight, this kind of abnormal noise is 100% effective with this method)

Open the skylight, wipe the surrounding dust with a paper towel, and then spray the BMW original silicone oil spray on the above area.

The rear should also be sprayed, and the main sound is actually made by friction in this thin place at the rear, with a layer of newspaper under the spray to prevent it from being sprayed into the interior.
(PS: there is a solution of sticking 3M adhesive tape around the skylight on the Internet. I have used this method, but it is not recommended because 3M adhesive tape is pasted around the skylight instead of skylight friction. 3M adhesive tape will age for a long time, and the abnormal noise will appear again before long, which is not as good as oil injection lubrication.)

Abnormal sound category 2

The skylight skeleton screws make an abnormal sound, which is manifested in the frequent clattering sound emitted from the skylight or the top of the B pillar, going to a 4S store for maintenance, and explicitly informing me in advance that I will consider dismantling it or not. The 4S secretly removed my B-pillar and A-pillar cover wood and tightened the skylight screws, and naturally did not fix it, because the sound did not come from the inside at all. Then I went to another 4S store, and the repairman sprayed WD40 on the skylight skeleton screw to solve the problem.

After fully opening the skylight, spray WD40 on the two screws of the skylight skeleton. (do not rule out the possibility that you may need to replace the internal screw or gasket to solve the problem.)

Abnormal sound category 3

The main driver’s window is noisy, and the specific sound is that when all the windows are raised, the clanging sound can be heard on the bumpy road as if the glass is not installed, as if the window shook and quivered, and the noise disappeared after shaking the window a little bit. After many tests at the 4S store, the answer given to me by 4S was not the sound of the glass, but the problem of the main driving tape, and said that if the sound was very loud, I could claim for a new tape, and then the solution for me was to put a transparent tape on the A-pillar of the car body to alleviate it, and the sound relapsed after being opened for a period of time, so I bought 3M tape and studied the position of the door frame affixed to the corresponding body. At present, there is no recurrence for tens of thousands of kilometers, but it is best to settle the claim with adhesive strips.

Affixing 3M adhesive tape to the orange part can solve the problem of abnormal noise of the car window.

Abnormal sound category 4

There is a noise inside the glove box of the co-driver. The specific sound is that the co-driver’s gloves make a click of plastic, and the sound is not continuous but intermittent. It may be gone in the morning and in the afternoon. It is very big and ugly. It bothers me for more than 10,000 kilometers, but most riders can skip the noise. After many tests, it is determined that the noise is made by a kettle in the engine cabin. 4S told me that the G38 has never been this case, only on the X3, it is estimated that I may be the only G38 kettle abnormal noise in the country, but still send it, in case, 4S adjust the position of the kettle after the abnormal sound disappeared.

The sound is similar to that coming from inside the glove box. It sounds like it is coming from inside the car, but it is actually the kettle in the engine compartment.

For this reason, the central control was also removed. If you want to remove the glove box of this generation of G38, you must lift the whole center console to remove the glove box. Fortunately, the master of the second 4S finally confirmed that the abnormal noise was not in it.

Abnormal noise category 5 (unrepaired)

There is an abnormal sound in the part of the skylight, which is very similar to the second abnormal sound mentioned above, and there are many people with this problem in this generation of 7 series. The sound is represented by the clatter sound of some part of the skylight, and it is not always affected by thermal expansion and cold contraction. It is ringing in summer and not in winter. 4S estimates that some screw needs to be replaced or fastened. I haven’t been there because I have to remove the roof. There is still half a year’s overinsurance. I will repair it before it is overinsured and update it at that time.

Similar to the position of the sunroof handle, the exact location is not clear.

Some riders turn on air conditioning, heat expansion and cold shrinkage lead to abnormal noise of interior wood stripes, and so on. In fact, these sounds will gradually disappear after 2 years, because the running-in is over, and the sound is not loud, so don’t worry about it.

I feel that the engine is very bad after driving 260. I have an old self-priming V62.4 A6. When choosing a car, I also went to the showroom to see the A6, but I thought that this generation of Audi had a deviation in the design language after changing the designer, got a lot of screens and reduced the full-time all-wheel drive, and the low-end version had too few leather packages, too much plastic, and a serious decline in luxury, so it was also PASS, so I chose the 5-series.

As for the configuration choice of the 5 series, except for the appearance of the luxury kit and the sports kit, the tire width is different, the luxury rear tire width is 245, the sports is 275, the second is the luxury has nappa leather interior decoration, the other does not have any difference, I personally like the luxury appearance + nappa leather so choose luxury.

Compared with the old Audi A6, the A6 has a relatively large steering vacancy, the advantages are comfortable enough, the driving is not tired, the one-handed operation is very easy, and the disadvantages are not enough to exercise without passion (driving Mercedes-Benz 260, 1.5T, 48V, long distance, more than 1500 kilometers, 1.5T power is very poor, turbine hysteresis is serious, and the engine noise is very loud, just like a tractor, the brake foot feeling is very uncomfortable and non-linear, real feeling. So it is suggested that everyone should not buy a 1.5T Mercedes-Benz.

530 after sitting on 4 adult men, you can feel that the power is not as good as that of solo driving, so 525 is not recommended.

Problems in use

The abnormal noise disappeared immediately, and it could not rebound for a long time. At present, it has been used for 4 months and there is no abnormal noise.

2: abnormal noise, central control, door wood grain, pressing after exposure will make a squeaky sound, hot expansion and cold contraction, crackling after exposure to the air conditioner, the abnormal sound is not loud, but its own generation of 5 series sound insulation is better, the abnormal noise is more obvious (basically ignored after 6000 kilometers …… No solution, it doesn’t seem to ring in winter)
