[Competition] Four-wheel drive maintenance, common problems will be dealt with.

The entire Soranto series comes standard with AWD four-wheel drive (there are very few special versions of two-wheel drive produced around 2014). Although this four-wheel drive is not as powerful as models such as Overlords and tanks, it is also a mechanical structure. Many motorists follow me. Driving in the desert, Xizang, and Hala Lake and other places is also a smooth and joyful journey.
However, due to the design concept, the transfer case of the Solanto four-wheel drive system does not have an independent lubricating mechanism. The transmission splines will rust and drop slag over time, and the rusty and falling slag will intensify wear. In the end, the teeth of the transmission splines will be completely smoothed and power cannot be transmitted, and the vehicle loses its rear drive. In normal times, vehicles that start with large feet and drive smoothly will fail earlier, and vehicles that drive gently will fail later. Sooner or later, this “common problem” will basically occur around 60,000 kilometers of vehicle mileage, and everyone can only repair it at their own expense.
Coincidentally, vehicles have been maintained and repaired recently. I will send another special topic to remind everyone: the cold wind blows, the snowflakes float, and winter is coming at the end of the year. Cars, like people, need winter repairs, and daily and meticulous maintenance determines the pace of travel in the coming year. Adolescent vehicles are like young you, rushing and soaring.

Right front half shaft and transfer case removal

The spline of the main shaft (male head) of the transfer case is severely worn

The half-shaft splines were rusty, and leaking transfer case oil covered the surface.

The left front half shaft has also been removed

Another Sorento is also under maintenance

The splines of the transmission differential housing (female head) are also only smooth and cannot transmit power rearward at all.

Disassemble the transmission and take out the differential housing.

Front axle differential assembly

Remove the differential with the large toothed plate

Open the differential and disassemble the internal planetary gears.

New differential return

Torque converter homing

Disassembling transfer case

It should be that the transfer case oil has not been replaced for a long time, like mud.

Damaged transfer case spindle

Both the main and auxiliary shafts of the transfer case must be replaced

Transfer case housing components cleaning

New transfer case spindle

Transfer case being assembled

oil seal mounting

The spindle oil seal must be installed in place, otherwise oil leakage will occur again.

Scrap transfer case main and auxiliary shafts

Apply lubricating grease to the surface of the male spline

Lubricate the female head as well

Exhaust cylinder and drive shaft reset

half shaft return
