The original factory of the EA888 cylinder head rear water pipe tee is made of Bakelite and has a life span of about 6 years. It was replaced with an original one before. It has been 4 years now. Recently, it was found that there was a little less antifreeze. Investigation found that there were traces of antifreeze precipitation at the joint of the inlet pipe leading to the heating water tank at the three-way connection. It should be caused by the aging of the Bakelite water pipes of the original car. Auto Parts City purchased one aluminum tee joint and one brand water pipe. Come back and replace it yourself.

The first step is to remove the antifreeze from the coolant pot to reduce waste

Remove the water collection cover plate, find the water inlet pipe, remove the clamp, and withdraw the pipe.

It’s the one on the right.

The lower end of this pipe leads to the cylinder block tee.

Disconnect the buckle and withdraw the tube

Pull the clip open and the tube can be pulled out

In fact, the problem is this joint. It is made of Bakelite and aging at high temperatures, causing the antifreeze to leak, a very weak leak-precipitation!

Then remove the Bakelite tee tee. It was replaced 4 years ago, but this time it was replaced with aluminum!

It can be seen that there is still a little color change at the joint, indicating that aging has begun. It will take up to two years to replace it!

One old set, one new set, compare the hole position and the size before loading!

After removing the three links. Looking inside the cylinder, it is still clean. There are no leaks in the cylinder head and the vacuum pump on the upper right. It is still necessary to replace the antifreeze regularly!

I won’t go into details on how to install it. There are only two screws, and other accessories do not need to be removed. It’s just that the position is a bit awkward, so I have to lie on the engine for construction!

Put it in place

Look at the left position!

Finally, add antifreeze, start, warm up the car, drive for a circle, and replenish it to the standard height!

Look at the details of this aging joint!

It can be seen that the interior has been severely discolored, and it seems that only wood has no glue!

This is how antifreeze is precipitated from the interior of Bakelite, which is called leakage!
