It is inevitable that any car needs to be maintained for a long time. It is found that the dust cover of the drive shaft is rotten. Abominably, the inside and outside of the left drive shaft are rotten. Take advantage of this great holiday to have time for maintenance. The reason for posting is to thank Pa Youyou, and to share the experience of car repair. Self-maintenance is also a very fulfilling skill as a man driving a car.
First of all, in online shopping, the outer ball cage dustproof cover is the first choice. In fact, we only know this brand, and the cognition is limited. As a result, several stores were able to place orders, because the epidemic was out of stock, and the outer ball cage dustproof cover was in stock, but the inner ball cage dustproof cover was in stock. Thanks to brother Lu, I got to know another brand, Nesite (here is not a recommendation, just personal cognition).

As soon as the goods arrived, I opened it and took a look at it. The quality lever was good. How long will it last? Because the first time to use, let time to answer, I want to believe that there are satisfactory results.
When the goods are ready, two necessary special tools need to be prepared. why is it necessary? because such tools are rarely used elsewhere, but they must be used here.
One is the 14mm inner hexagonal tool for removing the outer ball cage.
The second is the M10 tool of the inner ball cage.
This operation is not difficult, follow the following steps can be completed.

The first step is to remove the tire and upper arm bolts.
Drive the car to the lift frame, wrench 17, the best tool to use, remove the left front wheel, this simple basic, then use two No. 16 wrenches to break off the bolts of the upper arm, and then detach the upper arm. Only in this way can we move the bottom and take out the outer ball cage.

The second step is to loosen the big screw of the outer ball cage M16.
To prevent rotation, put the tire screw back and insert the screwdriver into the brake disc caliper position so that it will not turn.

Step 3, 6 bolts on the Panasonic inner ball cage
M10 inner multi-angle bolt, so that this end of the inner ball cage can be removed, and the tightening distance is 80 Nm.

Why is it particularly emphasized that without these two tools, it is impossible to disassemble them, and getting the tools ready before repair will save a lot of time in finding them? this is an experience, because such tools are seldom used, and some workshops may not know where the tools are lost for a long time.

Step 4, remove the drive shaft
The upper arm of the suspension is removed at the front, and now the outer ball cage can be rotated one side, and then the whole transmission shaft can be taken out.

The outer ball cage is broken.

The inner ball cage is also rotten, this is serious, although there is still a lot of grease in it.

The fifth step is to separate the inner and outer cages.
The drive shaft is fixed, and the inner ball cage has a clasp. After removing the clasp with spring pliers, it is easy to take out the inner ball cage.
Hold the outer ball cage with a non-metallic hammer or cloth, and the outer ball cage will come out with two light hammers.

Step 6, clean the inner and outer ball cages, and install the inner and outer ball cages
I am lazy here because there is still a lot of grease. After wiping it off with a paper towel, I will directly add new oil to install it. If you want to clean up, you can use diesel or detergent to remove it thoroughly and then add grease.

Outside the ball cage, pay attention to those clasps and other small accessories are not less, wipe off the old oil, inject new oil, with special clamp clamp tight.

The inner ball cage is hard to fit in because there are ring grooves of different sizes in the drive shaft, which is hard to push in as shown in the picture.

Finally pushed forward.

In addition to rubbing old oil and injecting new oil into the inner ball cage, pay attention to three before putting it in.
First, apply sealant where it comes into contact with the dustproof sleeve.
Second, there is a gasket in contact with the gearbox, but now the inner ball cage dust cover is not matched, can only be used back to the old, I hope it will not leak.
Third, don’t forget to install the clasp back, which is a very important gadget.

Step 7, install the drive shaft back, please go back to steps 2 and 3.
