1. Reasons for replacing the sealant strips with your car
My car has traveled 180,000 kilometers, and many of the rubber parts on the car have almost been replaced. However, recently I found a big crack in the sealant strip of the main driver’s door, which is very embarrassing. Everyone knows that the sealant strip has the functions of waterproofing, thermal insulation, and sealing. Over time, it does cause aging, degumming, cracking, etc. If it cannot be replaced in time, wind and sand will easily enter the car; my adhesive strip is cracked because it is relatively large. 2. Sealing strip replacement process

First take a new sealant strip and measure it to see if the model is the same as the size.
Then start to dismantle the co-pilot door panel, which is a cumbersome process; every step requires careful storage of parts to prevent loss.
After the door panel was disassembled, the inside was briefly cleaned, and there was indeed a lot of dust.
The rearview mirror also needs to be disassembled and washed, which is indeed a big project.
After dismantling, take a close-up of the cracked sealant strip.
Everything is ready. Bring the new sealant strip and prepare to press it on. Be sure to lubricate the parts with lubricant before pressing it.
Then carefully install it with the passenger door panel.
After pressing it, try lifting and lowering the glass to see if there is no astringent condition.
Finally, install the door panels, rearview mirrors, and rain barriers in place in turn and you’re done. The process is a bit complicated, and even if you have tools to change it yourself, it will be very troublesome.
The settlement came out. The consumption was less than 400 yuan this time. The original parts were also guaranteed for one year. If there were quality problems, they would be replaced for free within one year.
3. Summary
In ordinary times, many motorists may park very casually and leave at the bottom of the tree. In fact, this is not advisable, because parking under the tree is easy to encounter gum, shellac and bird droppings, which will corrode the exterior rubber strips of the car. The safest way is to park in the basement or stay away from such places. In addition, you must also be careful when opening and closing doors. In fact, regular inspections and regular car washing can appropriately reduce the acid substances attached to the rubber strips, thereby extending the service life of the rubber strips. If the adhesive strip is found to be slightly cracked during the inspection process, rubber adhesive can be used to repair it if it is not serious. However, if the adhesive strip is damaged too high, such as the crack is too large or there are signs of falling off, it is recommended to replace it in time.
