I’ve been lurking in the altar for more than 10 years and haven’t posted a post. The mouse knob is normal, but the rotation has failed for several months. I thought the impact would not be too great, so I didn’t plan to repair it.(The main reason is that the cost of 4S is too high and it’s unnecessary.) I accidentally saw a post on Xia Smile replacing the axle in the forum. After confirmation from Xia Smile and Yan Bian, my situation was that the axle was broken, and I felt that replacing the axle was not too difficult. I searched the Internet for the command knob axle for 60 yuan and bought an aluminum alloy axle. When I opened and disassembled it, I found that my car was not that my car had a different disassembly method, and it was still a little difficult to remove it at the beginning. So I specially sent a post to my fellow drivers of the same model as me for reference.

An aluminum alloy shaft bought for 60 yuan,

Let’s take an overall photo first, and then start to remove it. I removed the holster first. This is very easy to remove, but the gap in other places is too small to remove.

Just lift the holster and don’t have to remove it (I don’t know how to remove it, the key is not necessary). I thought that this would allow me to remove the connector of the wire, but found that it would not work to be lazy.

I found a gap and couldn’t pry it open. I found that I lifted the front edge with my hands and lifted it up hard. It was easy to remove it when I pulled it forward.

Slow down there is a cable inside. Pull the cable off and remove it from the handle.

The two front metal clips will not break if you lift them up hard.

First remove the entire connector from the shelf, put it down and press it down

Just remove the connector

Open the armrest box and take out the box. You will see the screws. A T20 screwdriver is needed here.

Then pry this place and take off the top cover

Use T20 to remove this screw and you can remove the entire knob

I started to pry too much and couldn’t get it off. In fact, I should pry the thin edge.

Then pry the recessed area. There are 4 grooves in total. It’s easy.

Open the upper cover plate, put some glue on the cover plate, and then remove the screws with a T8 screwdriver

Use a T10 screwdriver to remove these 10 screws. Mercedes-Benz is so generous that this thing uses 10 screws.

easily open

The gasket parts inside the upper cover have not been moved

Taking out the uvula piece, I later found that the square box seemed to be removed without taking out the uvula piece

Use something thin to pry this place out, lift it up and come down

This is the broken shaft. Compared with the old and the new, there is lubricating oil on it, so I put some oil on the new one.

There is no problem in trying to install the screws and you can use them

I installed it and rotated it and tested it, and the gear next to it can move without any problem.

I started reinstalling it, and then used a screwdriver to turn the bearing without getting stuck.

It is recommended that it will be easier to put the uvula into a small square box first and then install it on the base.

Now I have encountered a small problem. The glue on this cover is dry and it can’t stick. It keeps putting down. I used glue for fear that it will not be easy to remove in the future, so I used double-sided tape.

All the reinstallation has been completed, and after turning on the machine and testing, the knobs that have been several months later can work normally again.
Share what you know with everyone as much as possible, hoping to provide some help to the riders.
I would like to thank the Aika Forum for providing such a good platform that allows some car owners to understand their cars better. Drivers can discuss, learn and share experiences with each other. Previously, I had been repairing and maintaining on 4S because I didn’t know how to repair, and spent a lot of unnecessary money. All of my fellow drivers no longer had to worry about expensive maintenance costs. Thanks again to Moderator Yan and Xia Tian Smiling for their advice.
