The sharing of some vehicle repair and maintenance cases is updated irregularly. Let more people understand some tips in daily car use, maintenance, and testing. Use cars to understand cars better!

Continuing the previous article: Cleaning the water tank condenser. Reason for arriving at the store: Antifreeze leaked during driving on a Mercedes-Benz B200, causing it to be missing, and the police came to the store to check the source of the leakage. The cleaning of the water tank condenser is the only incidental operation found during inspection.

The oil leaking this time was a leak from the refilling kettle. The leak was seen without even using the testing equipment, and the traces were obvious. Antifreeze refilling bottles (refilling bottles) are mostly located in the front left or right of the car. The lid or body of the pot has logos or text prompts, which is easy to find and conspicuous.

These pictures represent everything, and one can see the water traces that flow through when the antifreeze leaks down from a distance.

Mid-range signs are more obvious

You can also see up close the antifreeze that leaks out and does not flow down or evaporate. If leaks are found in this part, there will be no problems such as pipes. The problem with the water filling bottle is directly determined. If you want to find the specific leaking shop of the water filling bottle, you need to remove it.

A pot with antifreeze is called a kettle. There are two pipes on it, one leads to the water tank, which fills the water tank, cylinder block and all water pipes with antifreeze. The other is in the pipe leading to the vicinity of the water pump and used to circulate exhaust air.

Drain off part of the antifreeze (make it clear of liquid in the refilling kettle), and remove the refilling kettle by unplugging the pipe. Make it simple!

After removing the refilling kettle, it was found that the problem was right on it. It should be due to aging or other reasons that a piece in the lower part of the refilling kettle had cracked and leaked.

Close the distance and see this small crack. How much antifreeze can this small crack flow out?
In fact, after the engine temperature rises while the vehicle is driving, there will always be a pressure inside the refilling kettle. This pressure will cause the cracked small gap to expand and release the pressure. After the crack is opened, the antifreeze will flow down and eventually lead to loss.

As for the role of antifreeze, I don’t need to say more. If I really want to know, please go to Baidu Wikipedia and explain it in great detail.

Replace with a new refilling kettle

Because part of the antifreeze has been released, it is added here as needed, filling one liter bottle with one bottle with one bottle of water.

The lack of antifreeze can easily lead to high temperatures of water, boiling, etc., making the engine unable to work well, and even causing huge damage to the engine.
As for the search directions for missing antifreeze, there are several places: water pump, water tank, thermostat, pipeline, kettle, etc. When the fault is not obvious, you need to check one by one.
