What I shared with my fellow drivers today was the engine oil confusion I encountered.
In June 2020, when the vehicle traveled to more than 3,000 kilometers, the vehicle was maintained for the first time in accordance with the manufacturer’s first maintenance requirements of half a year or 5,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. At that time, the original engine oil was upgraded and replaced with 5W-30 fully synthetic engine oil.

In September, when the vehicle was driving more than 6,000 kilometers, I did an inspection. The oil volume had reached the center line of the scale, and I felt that the oil consumption was a bit large. According to the manufacturer, the fully synthetic engine oil can be replaced when driving about 10,000 kilometers. After replacing it, half of it was consumed after running 3,000 kilometers. I feel that I can’t last until 13,000 kilometers at this speed. I called the technician at the 4s store for consultation, and replied that I either went to the store to check, or paid more attention to it myself. As long as the oil light on the dashboard is not on, there is no problem. However, when the oil light is on, you must not start the vehicle. I was busy with work and didn’t take time to go to the store to inspect. I was afraid that the oil lamp would really alarm the police while running on the road and couldn’t solve it, so I prepared a bottle of engine oil of the same specification in advance. In December, when the vehicle was driving more than 9,000 kilometers, I checked the oil again.
The oil inspection requires that the vehicle be parked for a period of time to allow the oil to fully flow back before the inspection is accurate. The mileage was recorded the night before and the operation was prepared for the next day.

Add the prepared engine oil of the same brand and same specification.

After filling, the amount of oil will be slightly lower than the center line of the scale.
I have privately communicated with motorists about this confusion about engine oil before. Some motorists said that this engine oil does not meet the standards recognized by the Volkswagen factory, and some motorists said that this will not occur with 5W-40 engine oil. problem. I checked online. Because the oil at 30 is thinner than the oil at 40, which is conducive to controlling fuel consumption, this model is basically added to new cars in stores, and only older vehicles use oil at 40. There are different opinions and I don’t know what kind of statement is correct. I plan to go to the store for a winter inspection when I have time in the near future.
