The air-conditioning filter element must be familiar to every car owner. It filters dust, pollen and other harmful substances in the air during the car process, effectively protecting the air environment inside the car. Therefore, it is necessary to clean and replace it regularly. Previously this year, I cleaned the air-conditioning filter element once in February. After nearly a year of use, I replaced the air-conditioning filter element myself. The process is also very simple. Let me share the entire process with you below.
Lingdu replaced the air conditioning filter element in the glove box of the co-pilot. Most of the previous Volkswagen PQ platform models were replaced in the engine compartment.
Because the installation process was simple, I had saved a new set of air conditioning filter elements two months ago. During maintenance, it was not time to replace the filter elements, so I did not ask the maintenance technician to replace them.
It can be seen from the side of the filter element packaging box that it is suitable for use in many models on the MQB platform, such as Tour On, Tiguan, Tour Yue, the new generation LaVida, etc.
Both sides of the air conditioning filter element are painted in two colors respectively, making it fresh and eye-catching.
Different from ordinary filter elements, this filter element adopts a three-layer design, namely an electrostatic fiber layer, an activated carbon layer, and an antibacterial and allergic multi-functional layer.
The following is the replacement and installation process: The first step is to open the co-driver’s glove box. This position is easy to find.
Press the buckles on both sides at the same time, use a little force and gently pull down to remove the glove box
When the glove box is about to be removed, soft stuck spots can be seen.
The two points circled in the figure are the connection points of the glove box to the buckle.
The second step is to remove the cover plate of the air conditioning filter element. The stuck points are circled in the picture. If it is inconvenient to remove it by hand, you can use a screwdriver to lift it out.
Remove the air conditioning filter element cover and store it carefully. Below is the replacement filter element.
Remove the old air conditioning filter element and pay attention to the direction of the arrow of the filter element. Install the new filter element according to the old arrow direction.
Looking at the old filter element, it is still quite clean, which has a lot to do with the usual road environment. Another thing is, the usual work unit is too close to home and rarely drives to work.
There is no big garbage and dust agglomeration, only a small amount of gravel and dust. Many motorists think it is so clean that they don’t need to replace it. What I want to say here is that for your own health, you still have to replace it on time.
Reset the new air conditioning filter element, the arrow is the same as the old one, and insert it into the filter box.
Reset the filter element cover and gently clamp it on.
There is a small object in the glove box buffer. When it is removed, it will not fall out. It must be preserved well. If it is lost, it will have to be replaced. It will be a bit worth the loss.
The glove box buffers the buckle. First push the buckle in, gently push the glove box to the normal position, and then lift it hard to reset it normally.
The reset glove box is exactly the same as the original one. Everyone can also clean it or replace it yourself. It’s really simple.
After three years of companionship, this is the first time that I have replaced the air conditioning filter element myself. It has been cleaned once during the Chinese New Year. Under normal use, it will be enough to replace it every other year or every 15,000 kilometers. During this period, I can maintain it and blow it out.
