My XC60 has been bought for almost two and a half years, with nearly 30,000 kilometers. Taking advantage of the sunny day and having lunch, I replaced it with an air filter in my spare time, because the maintenance manual recommends replacing the air filter every 30,000 kilometers. To be honest, changing the air filter element is not technical at all. As long as you have tools and know how to screw, it can be easily done. But many riders may not know what tools to prepare, what model of filter element to buy, and what are the replacement steps? This article provides an explanation based on the above issues.

Let me first show off my car. I bought the 2017 upgraded Volvo XC60, which was also the last car before the major revision. The whole car has a smooth appearance and a raised waist line on the side, extending from the front to the rear of the car. It has a strong bony feeling! The 2017 XC60 uses the C35177 air filter element, which is the original model

Prepare a T20 hexagonal Torx screwdriver

Pull the wrench out with your hand and hear a click, which means that the hood is unlocked

Walking to the right side of the front of the car, you can see yellow buttons in the gap in the hood. Stretch out two fingers in and push them to the left, and the hood will automatically open.

Then remove the cover of the air filter element

The air filter element is located on the right side of the engine compartment

Press the position shown above and unscrew the 6 fixing screws

At this time, the T20 hexagonal Torx screwdriver will be used

Unscrew all the screws and you can open the lid

Raise the cover a little to take out the air filter element. It looks a little dirty and dusty

There is a lot of dust and fine sand in the box where the air filter is stored

Compare old and new filter elements

Get a wet towel and wipe off the dust and sand inside

Put the new filter element in, lay it flat, and do not let a corner tilt

Finally, just tighten the fixing screws, and the entire process of replacing the air filter element is over.
