Hello everyone, this is a column focusing on car repair and maintenance. There are car mysteries you don’t know, and it will teach you how to avoid the big pits on the road of car ownership. I believe that not only you but also many people have a certain sense of obscurity about the car aftermarket, which will help you uncover the unknown stories of car repair and maintenance.
In today’s cities, the roads are getting wider and wider, but the drainage system is still a burden for many cities. Once the rainfall is too heavy, the drainage systems of many cities are basically paralyzed, and the roads naturally accumulate into rivers.
Many vehicles will lose a large part of the money once they wade into the water, not to mention the cost of car repair, and it is also greatly reduced in the later value preservation rate, and some models have even appeared to the extent that no one wants it at one time.
In this issue, the editor will take you to interpret: why no one is willing to buy a water car? what is the hidden danger?
What is a bubble car?
In fact, it is difficult to really define the bubble car, if divided in detail, it is actually divided into internal water bubble and external water bubble.
1 external soaking
External soaking is easier to understand when water flows from the outside of the car to the inside of the car. When the wading depth of the car exceeds the bottom and enters the driving room, it can be understood as soaking in water.
2 internal soaking
Internal soaking refers to Rain Water entering the car from the skylight or other position. Many people will ignore the reason for soaking. In fact, the probability of this happening is still very high.
This summer I met at least five vehicles with water coming from the skylight, and the state in front of me belongs to 100% water-soaking vehicles. (in fact, in some ways, this situation is a bit unfair to the car owner. after all, there is no water on the engine and gearbox at all.)
Second, now that we know what a bubble car is, what are the safety risks?
1 mechanical part
After all the vehicles are soaked in water, the mechanical parts are bound to be damaged. it’s just a matter of big and small. Most of the parts on the car body are metal parts, which will accelerate oxidation after soaking in water.
There are also individual models after the engine into the water, there was no failure at that time. After driving for a period of time, there was a strain on the cylinder wall and slowly began to burn oil.
On the other hand, the engine is only one aspect, and the gearbox and steering gear are most afraid of soaking, and these components are difficult to fail in a short period of time.
2 electronic failure
If mechanical failure is enough to give you a headache, in fact, electronic failure is the real harm. After all, mechanical failures only cost you more money, while electronic failures are likely to kill you.
Whether it is internal or external soaking, as long as the water comes in, all the seats and floor glue must be removed to dry.
Models with internal water even need to replace new ceilings, many of which are made of cardboard shells, and a soak of water has basically changed its shape seriously.
Now cars use a large number of electronic devices, after soaking in water, plugs and computer modules will follow into the water. It is very likely that there was no malfunction at that time, but the residual moisture still exists, which is likely to cause a short circuit in the electronic system and more likely to cause the vehicle to catch fire naturally.
This is a computer module of the BMW X5. Did you see the rust? in fact, it only took three days from soaking to rusting.
Never underestimate this rust, let alone the little water stains left.
This is Audi’s thermostat assembly. Do you see the shell that has been melted on the left? dare to say it’s okay to soak in water!
Three summaries
The huge security hidden danger of the water-soaking car is the main reason that no one buys it, but some unscrupulous merchants repair the water-soaking car to the point that it is fake and real, harming consumers.
The editor suggests that when buying a used car, you must not buy a bubble car, even if the price is low enough to attract you, but don’t joke about your life. You can buy a car as you like, but you only have one life.
