Cheers, an old BMW 120 vehicle is unable to run, and the fault light is lit. This generation is equipped with an N46 engine, a matching 6-speed automatic manual transmission, and a rear-drive. The mileage of the vehicle is not more than 60,000 kilometers, and the vehicle is nearly 10 years old. There is a certain oil leak, and some seals need to be replaced. After diagnosis, a general maintenance direction is established. It may be due to a problem with the electronic valve lift. The fault was discovered after inspection.
In the morning, the instrument was turned on to indicate a large fault light, and there was a delay in stepping on the accelerator.
In the fault record after DME diagnosis, there are two possibilities: if the valve lift motor and the eccentric shaft position sensor fail, relevant fault codes will be reported, and maintenance will be required next.
During the dismantling process, it was found that the rear shell of the motor was damaged. It was checked that the shaft was not worn and there was no stuck. So a valve motor was replaced first, expecting that the fault would change. However, the fault code did not disappear, so we had to replace the sensor together.
There was an oil leak on the upper part of the vehicle, so we replaced the gasket together. The parts were OEM regular parts. It is recommended not to use counterfeit parts as much as possible. First, the quality is unstable, and second, the price may not be cheap.
Fix the problem, and then we deal with the oil spill. The upper vacuum pump leaks serious oil, so the repair kit can be replaced. Some cars do not provide a separate repair kit.
It can be seen that the oil leak is quite serious.
The thick sealant seems to have been treated before, and the effect is not very good. Just replace it with a new sealing ring.
The seal ring in the middle of the vacuum pump also needs to be replaced, and it is aging without elasticity and leaking oil.

Oil leakage is also serious and needs to be repaired together. It’s uncomfortable to turn on the air conditioner when it smells like engine oil.
Remove the three screws from the oil holder.
Put on a new sealing ring
Oil seepage from the oil bottom is also serious, so repair it together.
It hasn’t been touched for so many years, but this time we will completely repair him.
To replace the oil pan gasket, you need to lower the front axle a little before you can remove the oil pan.
Clean it and carefully install the oil pan back.
