[DIY] Lao Lang’s replacement of the final waterproof membrane I hope Lao Lang can use it for longer
This 2010 LaVida has been around for ten years. To be honest, the overall condition of the car is good, but there are also several common problems, all of which are being improved one by one. Today, we are going to replace the last minor problem, the waterproof membrane on the left rear door.
A 10-year-old car was parked in an idle parking space in advance, leaving enough space on the left side.
The car had only been washed for a day and parked under a tree all night. It was covered in leaves and bird droppings.
Preparations for construction began early in the morning.
Pull off the armrest.
Pushing open the armrest.
The T30 screwdriver unscrews the screws.
There are 2 positions in total.
Pushing open the door.
There is no point, pry slowly.
Loosen various wiring harnesses from the inside.
Waterproof membranes are like this.
In 10 years, the basic adhesive has failed and naturally fell off.
It’s also loosened.
The sides were also loosened, and nothing was intact.
Loosen the horn, T30 screwdriver.
The waterproof membrane completely fell off.
The inside structure, to be honest, the design of this batch of cars is really enough.
The lack of corresponding methods is not conducive to the development of work.
Spray it, then soak for a while.
Use your own small shovel to eradicate it.
The glue came off smoothly.
The first shovel was like this.
Overall glue has been removed.
There is no good way, spray it again, shovel it again, and it will be clean after a few times.
The shovel is very clean.
The shovel is very clean.
Just in time, clean the inside of the door and open a water outlet.
Add lining, old rule, read my previous posts.
Put glue on it for a week.
The two-sided one is actually a thin layer. Some people also use snake glue.
By the way, the glue is original Volkswagen.
Go through various wire harnesses and start pasting them back.
Start with one side.
Press it in place and it sticks.
It’s been glued for a week.
Practice makes perfect in all kinds of reloading.
Recovery complete.
To be honest, if I don’t take photos, I think it can be completed in an hour. The main reason is that removing the glue takes time and the operation is not difficult. There are improved sets sold online, but the price is high. If I change them, I think it can last for many years. Stick with it.
