Today, I would like to share with you my experience in making chassis armor for my car AX7, hoping to give some reference to new car friends.
The scientific name of automobile chassis armor is automobile chassis anti-collision, rust and sound insulation. It is a high-tech adhesive rubber asphalt coating. It can be sprayed on exposed parts such as vehicle chassis, car lower coaming, and luggage trunk. After rapid drying, it forms an elastic protective layer to prevent the impact of flying rocks and gravel, avoid the erosion of moisture, acid rain, and salt on the metal of the vehicle chassis, and prevent the chassis Rust and rust protect the driving safety of car owners. Chassis armor can effectively protect the chassis from being hit by sand and gravel on the road and prevent slight bottom-dragging friction; prevent acid, alkali and salt corrosion on the chassis iron plate;
In short, for friends with poor road conditions and often walk in suburbs and enter puddles, it is still recommended to build a chassis armor. The price is not expensive. The main reason is to prevent fine gravel from bumping against the chassis. As for increasing driving tranquility, I haven’t experienced it.
Installation can be done in a 4S shop for spraying, which has quality assurance and a long maintenance time. Then you can also buy your own materials, and then choose a shop to install or buy your own materials. It is the same for spraying at a shop you know. The gap lies in the warranty.
I chose to buy my own materials, which cost about 300 yuan, 8 bottles of high-titanium organic composite coating, 1KG per bottle. The construction specifications are 4.6-4.9. The vehicle requirements are 8 bottles. You can know this by asking the customer service when purchasing materials. The construction cost is up to me to discuss.
Secondly, the best stage for making chassis armor is the new car period. On the one hand, the chassis is relatively clean and there is no need to carry out secondary careful cleaning. On the other hand, there will be relatively little acid rain and alkaline substances attached to the chassis. The sooner you do it, the more secure you will be.
Let me talk about the construction steps: First, the chassis will be rinsed to remove the attached dirt such as sand and mud. Then a water blowing gun will be used to blow out the water in the gaps and dry the water with a towel. Therefore, it is best to make chassis armor on sunny days, so that after cleaning, the chassis can dry quickly and save everyone’s waiting time.
After cleaning the chassis, a vehicle lift is required. You must first cover the periphery of the tire and exhaust pipe with covering paper (mostly newspaper) and tape, paying special attention to the sensors and shock absorbers on the body.
Then I sprayed the chassis armor material onto the chassis. I sprayed it with two layers. It seems that the master also sprayed some areas more times. It should be that different places have different protection levels. After spraying, wait for it to dry, and the new car will be ready in about 1-2 hours.
Postscript: The chassis of the AX7PRO has a layer of chassis armor, which is not so thick, not bare steel plates. I thickened the two-layer chassis armor purely because the vehicle environment was not friendly. In the long term, I spent a small amount of money to extend the chassis life and reduce safety hazards.
