DIY replacement of aluminum alloy valve cover for small 7
After winter, it was found that the engine valve cover was leaking oil. The original valve cover was made of plastic. The alternating hot and cold of the engine and the long age caused the valve cover to age, so oil leakage occurred. I was going to make it myself and bought an aluminum alloy valve cover and an factory-specific sealant on Taobao. It takes two and a half hours to replace it yourself, and most of the time is spent cleaning the oil stains. It is necessary to thoroughly remove the oil stains, otherwise it will not stick with sealant and the oil will leak.
Look at the edge of the valve chamber, there is a lot of oil, and the oil leakage is serious.
This is a replacement for the original valve cover. It is estimated that it will deform geometrically over time.
The gasket was replaced once before, but it’s not working anymore.
The black aluminum alloy valve cover I bought is said to be different from the natural aluminum alloy. The natural color one is 5A05 material, and the black one is 4A01 material. The latter is more resistant to high temperatures than the former. The glue is Loctite 587 blue special flat sealant.
First, use carburetor spray to clean it carefully. Instead of spraying it directly, spray it on a non-woven fabric and slowly wipe it. Use a cotton swab to wipe the bolt holes. Finally, use industrial alcohol to carefully wipe it three more times. It is considered clean.
It is necessary to prepare one for this tool to keep the torque of the eight bolts consistent.
Installation complete.
Check if the gel is still relatively uniform. Note: Don’t hit the gel too much.
