It’s almost the New Year. I used to go out to play at night, and sometimes the car was too dark, so it was difficult to find something, so I bought some LED reading lights online to replace them. I bought some tools and prepared for low-cost DIY. I searched online how to change the reading lights. It’s actually simple. Basically, most of them just tilt them up and plug them in. The ceiling light in front is a little troublesome, because it’s too universal, and the wire harness length is so tightly controlled that I can only slip them in with my fingers. It was hard to replace it with two fingers. The rear reading light was more troublesome. The following will focus on the rear reading light. Before changing the light, I also searched for various videos and pictures and prepared tools. Only this rear reading light could not find detailed videos and pictures, only some simple text narratives.

First of all, prepare tools, Jiaojiao and 8MM sleeve, and also need to prepare a very small one-word screwdriver

First, button the button with your fingers, exposing the screws

Unscrew the screws with an 8MM sleeve

Remove both sides

Remove the screws directly after removing them. The plastic bayonet inside will be fine if it is broken. It is locked by screws, so both sides can be pulled together.

The way it’s pulled out

Then use the tool in the beginning picture to pry open it open, and pull it loose with your fingers. Don’t pull it out hard at this time, because there is a brass bayonet inside that is stuck, so you need a small screwdriver to push the small button inside out. It fell off in a moment

This is it?

The small one-word screwdriver picked out the smallest copper button and he came out himself

See clearly, this picture was taken during installation

I took it when I was ready to install it

This is what happens when the brass button falls off. The black knob button button comes out with a turn to replace the original car light bulb

Here, I have to complain about the General Motors manufacturer again. This wiring harness is really stuck. It took a lot of effort. I pulled the plug directly. There is a small buckle behind the power plug. When I pulled it out, the plug fell off by itself.

Install them one by one in order, and finally fix them with screws. Personally, it doesn’t matter whether you want the brass button or not. These 2 screws are not tight yet.

It’s not so bad to put up the renderings. Anyway, it’s quite fun to find things
