One day, I found that the heating problem in the right rearview mirror was faulty. On a rainy day, I compared the left and right. There was basically no rain beads on the left side, and the fog on the right side was hazy and uncomfortable, which also affected safety. Buying a right lens with heating on Taobao is very cheap, but it is expensive to wear an anti-glare lens on the left side. However, due to procrastination and uncertainty as to whether the heating wire was broken or the circuit problem, it has been delayed until now. Recently, I suddenly wanted to repair it on a whim. Adjust the lens angle to the maximum toward [inner bottom], and hit the lens shell to the anti-joint, making it easy to start from the right gap. I didn’t use a crowbar. I just used 4 fingers to reach into the gap and break it off with moderate strength. I took it slowly and not broke it. After removing the power supply connector, the lens is completely removed.

Measure the resistance of the heating wire to 6 k Ω, which should normally be 8 Ω, and confirm that the heating wire is broken

Then turn on the heating button and measure the power supply voltage. There is no problem with 12v.

The quality of subsidiary factory parts on Taobao is uneven. There is basically no problem with each lens, mainly depending on whether the heating power meets the standard and whether the heating wire is compliant. I bought 4 mirrors one after another, with heating resistors ranging from 10 Ω to 20 Ω

I bought defective glue products. Although the resistance is 10 Ω, the heating power is closest to the original factory, so it is useless. The glass has curvature but the plastic bottom plate has no curvature. If the glue doesn’t work, it will warp.

The original lens has a 12V voltage and an 8 Ω resistance. It is known that the heating power is 18W. I finally picked a 14 Ω mirror with a power of about 10W. Why not pick another one with higher power? The reasons are heating wire, gluing, workmanship and other reasons.

It’s much easier to install it back than to remove it. Just point it roughly and press it in. The newly replaced right side is hotter than the original left side, probably because the heating wire on the left side is aging. The water spray test showed excellent evaporation effect, the curvature was the same as the original car, and the color was slightly whiter than the original car. It is estimated that the original car’s lenses were old and slightly yellowed. I’m more satisfied, call it a day!
