Replace the axle shaft oil seal for Vios

For some reason these days, I always feel that something is wrong with Serena. When I squat down to look at Serena, I always feel that there is a little oily under the gearbox, but I don’t know what’s going on. I had to drive the car to the dealership and have it checked by a professional technician. After checking, Serena was really wrong. The oil seal of the front left half shaft has leaked. Speaking of oil seepage and oil leakage, they are two different things. If oil seepage is slowly leaking out, the oil will not be visible. The oil leakage will be relatively serious. The oil leakage leaks downward in the form of droplets. After stopping for a while, you can see oil droplets on the ground. That kind of situation is a more serious situation and must be repaired. Fortunately, my car is not insured yet and can be replaced for free.

The car has been lifted and the tires have been removed.

See, there’s an oily feeling under the gearbox. Oil is leaking.

Start dismantling, remove the large screw caps of the half shaft first.

Remove the shock absorber screws. Then the bearings tilt to one side. The half shaft can be pulled out.

Look at the oil seal is already oily. I’ll get a new one soon.

Use a special tool to pry off the oil seal. What was pried off has been deformed.

This is a new oil seal. Original parts from Toyota manufacturers.

Use a clean rag to clean the oil seal seat.

Start installing a new oil seal and gently insert the oil seal into the oil seal seat with a hammer head.

The entire oil seal must be smashed horizontally. If it is smashed sideways, it will easily cause another oil leak.

After the oil seal has been replaced, the half shaft is installed.

The half shaft has been installed.

Start filling transmission fluid.

The above one is the oil filling hole and the observation hole. Just keep the transmission oil level with this hole.

After the replacement, we still need to test the car. Accompanied by the master, we will test the car for nearly 20 kilometers. Then we go back to the factory and lift the vehicle and check the chassis again to see if the oil seals are still leaking. Of course, Serena will definitely not show it after replacing the oil seal. Resurrection full of blood.
