The joy of doing it yourself–installing an external air filter element

October 1st, 2020 is both National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival. Here, I wish all riders a happy Double Festival and hope everyone lives a happy life! The car has been driving for a long time and using it for many years, but a lot of things have been changed little by little. Autumn has recently entered, and winter is not far away. The air conditioner and heater are about to play its role. Replacing the clean filter elements in advance will help the air inside the car. Excellent quality. I’m rushing to issue a small homework post for today’s double festival day-installing a simple external air filter element. In fact, after buying this Sagitar, I have been forced to learn a lot of public maintenance knowledge, improve a lot of hands-on modification capabilities, and meet many modification gods. Here, I would like to thank FAW-Volkswagen for its simple matching without limit spirit!

A certain Bao family bought an external air filter element, one bracket and one filter element. The boss sent two extra filter elements, plus a small tenth-size wrench. This wrench is really good and the right length. Give the boss a thumbs up!

The air intake of the air conditioner compressor is on the passenger side. The first step is to remove the sealing strip, and then remove the clip from the side of the rainboard. This black plate can be lifted. Some people can take this off. My wind-up stop is integrated, so I can only open it up.

After the water baffle is lifted up, the air conditioning compressor cover plate is exposed. This is a close-up of the cover plate clip. When taking it off, you need to use dexterity, hold it up and then pull it out. There is also a small clip at the end of the cover plate, which can be easily removed by children.

The original air compressor only has such a plastic net at the air inlet. How useful do you think it can be?

This is the compressor air inlet. Over time, the sealant strips on the plastic net have been stuck to the car.

After the cover plate is removed, there is a large hole in the lower left corner. It is recommended to plug it with something in advance, because the nut will have to be removed later. If it falls in, I don’t know where to find it.

After removing it, I wiped the periphery of the air intake. After using three full wipes, it was still dirty. The fourth wet wipe came out at noon.

Install the newly purchased bracket and filter element like this. Remember that the high edge faces the front of the car. Don’t ask me how I found it

My car has accompanied me for a full 60,000 kilometers. It has never abandoned me and has never had an accident. Thank you to my Dabai for his company and careful care all the way!

Long-term fuel consumption data, the meter shows 7.3 oil per 100 kilometers, which is quite good in the urban area.
