Wheels India to foray into motorcycle wheels manufacturing business

Chennai: Wheels India Ltd, a subsidiary of TVS Group, plans to manufacture motorcycle wheels and has started talks with some companies, a senior official said.

Srivats Ram, Managing Director, Wheels India, told reporters, “Calling it a strategy (measure) is too marginal. Yes, we have started working on it. We have started talking to some OEMs (original equipment manufacturers).” .

When asked if the company was considering high-end motorcycle production wheels, he answered in the negative.

“No, it’s something we know better in the economic (sector). We don’t usually talk about customer orders. It’s too early to confirm, but it’s part of the strategy.”

Wheels India currently manufactures steel wheels for passenger cars, utility vehicles, trucks, buses, tractors and construction equipment.

The company has manufacturing facilities in Chennai near Pune, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Uttarakhand.

When asked about the after-sales service for the launch of the WILGO brand, Ram said that it was going well and the company realized a business of more than Rs 5 crore.

“We want to reach 100 years in the next few years He added Rs 100 crore (business).

On the air suspension front, the company will start manufacturing lift axles for OEMs this year, he said.

“A few years ago, we signed a partnership with Endustri in cooperation with EGE Turkey. As a technology provider, they will sign a partnership between 2-3. Lift bridge supply will start within a month.

“This plant is a leased facility near Chennai. We are confident that we will be able to realize in three years 10. crore business,” he said.
