NEW DELHI: Trade association CAITT on Thursday urged the government to reduce the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on various products including auto parts and aluminum cutlery.
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) also suggested a review of goods falling under different tax slabs under GST due to overlapping of many products.
It said in a statement, “Items such as auto parts, aluminum appliances etc. are not considered luxury items and should be excluded from the 28% tax rate and may be included in the lower rate.”
Hardware, cell phone cases, ice creams, health drinks, paints, marbles, used cars and two-wheelers while submitting a white paper on GST (Goods and Services Tax) to Finance Minister Nirmalala Sitharaman.
“The delegation assured to look into the matter,” the minister said to CAIT’s statement.”
They also urged the Minister to set up GST markers in every state and center.
