Force Motors inaugurates Rs 200 crore facility near Chennai for testing BMW engines

Chennai:Pune-based Forceee Motors whose 200 has been officially launched Rs. 20 crore plant at Singaperumalkoil will be the German luxury car maker’s BMW engine production and testing.

Located about 55 kilometers away from Mahindra World City, the plant is the first standalone assembly and testing facility of the BMW Group.

Firodia, Managing Director, Force Prasors, said, “The Chennai plant, with an investment of around Rs. 20 crore, has a capacity to produce 20,000 units of quality engines per annum. The capacity can be further increased to 50,000 units.”

The plant, which was officially launched by Heavy Industries Minister Anant Geete composition, was commissioned in January and has already supplied around 30,000 units, the company said.

The plant was developed under the supervision and guidance of BMW in accordance with “strict global standards”. The plant will also produce transmissions and other products.

Force Motors also assembles engines for various Mercedes-Benz models. We assemble and test engines for all BMW cars and sports utility vehicles manufactured in India.

“Since more than 2007, the plant has been continuously expanded to produce the BMW 1-Series, 3-Series, 5-Series and the flagship 7-Series. The cars produced here use up to 50 percent “local components,” Frittrang said.

The Chennai plant also makes the X-Series SUVs, he said.

After the formal unveiling of the commemorative plaque, Geet said that the government has set up a committee to oversee the annual automotive mission plan for 2016-2026.

“The mission will focus on the transition to fuel efficient engines…,” He said.

“By 202020,” he said 2000, the electric and hybrid vehicle industry is expected to reach 7,000 10,000 units.” He noted that the Department of Defense has taken “significant steps” in promoting electric and hybrid vehicles.

Force Motors has two plants in India. The Pune plant makes small commercial vehicles and tractors, and SUVs, MUVs other commercial vehicles are made in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh.
