I feel that the appearance of the old 5 Series is more atmospheric and more stable. I took a photo of my car when I went to the car wash a few days ago. The biggest feeling I had after replacing this Goodyear tire was that the tire has strong grip on wet roads, and the braking distance is much shorter than before, especially in rainy days. The control is much better than the old tire.
Although the steering wheel feels a little heavy when driving, the handling performance is still very good. There is no empty position and I can hit wherever I point. The overall feeling is much more compact than the Japanese cars I drove before. Moreover, the steering wheel will be more stable when walking on mountain roads, and the safety aspects are well considered.
The interior of the old 5 Series is indeed a bit backward from the perspective of the present, but the advantages are that the materials and workmanship are not bad, and the details are also good. It is also very convenient from a design perspective, and its functions can meet daily use.
There is no need to say much about the riding space. The wheelbase of 3.1 meters explains everything, and the trunk space is also very large. But as a rear-wheel drive car, it is inevitable that the floor in the middle of the rear row will bulge. However, usually there are only four people in the car at most, so it has basically no effect on me.
The car that has been in use for six years is indeed easier to drive. If there is anything to complain about, it is that navigation is not very easy to use, and carplay is not supported. You can only use your mobile phone to navigate every time, and the fuel consumption is also high. If you persist for a few more years, you may have to choose a pure tram when changing cars in the future.
