In the era when new energy continues to occupy the fuel vehicle market, many models have pure electric and fuel power and hybrid models at the same time. What is interesting is that all major manufacturers need to complete the multi-type layout of one vehicle under the premise of comprehensive performance and cost control. it is precisely in this environment that we can feel the difference in details between the electric version and the fuel version under the same traditional brand model. And the differences brought about by the different car-building concepts between the emerging pure electric brands and the established car companies.

During the test drive of the new i540 and i5M60 models in Portugal, the biggest feeling is that, first of all, it is a 5-series, and secondly, it is an electric model with outstanding positioning characteristics, from throttle to steering to chassis driving performance. although almost all the performance is expected, there are still some high points and deficiencies, which will be shared with you in the form of hardware interpretation and random talk below.

This time, both the standard axle pure electric G60 ordinary model and the MPA model (M60) use the front spiral spring, the adaptive damping of the rear air suspension, and the adaptive elevation function of the air suspension of the rear axle can minimize the driving disadvantage caused by the pure electric weight, while the front axle has the sensitive front response caused by the high tension of the spiral spring. We can feel that the damping and the K value of the spring are quite high in some other electric vehicles that use helical springs or even immutable damping. This is due to the weight disadvantage of electric vehicles, although the center of gravity is low, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. As a result, manufacturers have to set the damping relatively high in damping calibration, because even comfort-based models The adjustment of damping must also be based on the premise of ensuring vehicle stability in extreme cases. Obviously, the question has been answered. Because of the inferior weight, the suspension performance of the same type of vehicle with the same configuration of pure electric model is not as good as that of pure fuel model. However, if there is a suitable hardware match, this problem will be watered down. The i540 and M60 equipped with front screw and rear suspension adaptive damping can improve their driving performance from the point of view of hardware. it can be concluded from the test drive that the damping control logic is mainly to increase the damping value with the speed. when there is a steering action or rapid acceleration and deceleration and encounter instantaneous pit compression or tension, it can be instantly adjusted according to the preset procedures of the manufacturer’s internal test and calibration, together with the adaptive elevation function. The rear seat and load do not affect the body height, and the influence of the dynamic center of gravity is reduced, which has a great gap with the vehicle with fixed damping. What is interesting is that after the i5M60 is equipped with active anti-tilting bar, not only the roll is almost completely offset, due to the information source of the extra four wheel-end accelerometers, so that the damping control has a more accurate basis, and the pitch control is obviously better than the 40 model. As a result, the overall subjective sense of weight of the 60 model is much less than that of the 40 model. I have been the owner of the G30 pure oil car for four years. When I test-drive 40 for the first time, I can almost be sure that the chassis performance of the electric 40 model will be slightly lower than that of the G60 pure oil model, but these problems almost no longer exist in front of the i5M60 with powerful hardware. The driving-related shortcomings that we can pick out from all the pure electric models on the market are difficult to find in the M60. BMW has always had an excellent steering feedback feel, needless to say, can still have a very delicate throttle feeling on such a high-power pure tram, which is also a very added point in this test drive. Taycan has also done a great job, which is different from the on-off throttle of some emerging brands of pure electric models. The really good throttle adjustment on the tram is definitely not a simple proportional power switch, but should have meticulous control logic. For example, if you step on the opening of 10%, keep it at 10% and slow or fast to 10%, the corresponding output torque is different. The provider can resonate with consumers in terms of demand and preference, which is not only the embodiment of strong development ability, but also more able to create brand value. Of course, a good product should first adapt to consumers, not consumers to adapt to it.

As a C-class MPA model of BMW, i5 M60 focuses on the pleasure of road driving and the personalization of the model. Providing driving fun in a luxurious and comfortable atmosphere is its product demand. The disadvantage of driving experience caused by the weight problem caused by pure electrification is almost completely solved from the subjective driving experience with the blessing of hardware, of course, in the case of non-track driving. In addition, thanks to the characteristics of the combination of the front axle spiral spring and the active anti-tilting bar, the steering command can still be easily completed under the fast steering action, while the rear wheel steering is responsible for smoothing the slightly poor follow-up problem caused by the rear axle single cavity air suspension. The previous generation of four-axle air suspension and active anti-tilting bar combination (M760Li) is not as good as the former combination. Obviously, the development team of i5 M60 has chosen a younger focus, and in the development work of the replacement, it has further improved the driving performance of the chassis. We have reason to believe that the comprehensive driving experience of the new i5 M60 will remain far ahead in most models in the past two years without the reduction of domestic standard configuration and optional configuration.
