Do it yourself to repair high-pressure car washer

The high-pressure car washing machine suddenly failed to produce water during use, but the machine was ringing. After several repeated starts, the fault was still not resolved, and the temperature of the machine rose. It was suspected that the inside of the machine was blocked by debris, so I decided to take it apart by myself to see what happened.
Picture above.

Appearance of high-pressure car washing machine

Remove the back cover

Then remove the protective cover inside

The high-pressure car wash pump consists of a motor, a cylinder head and a water pump

Remove the water pump, and the lubricating oil leaked all over the floor

Cylinder head, the round metal ring in the middle is the pressure plate

Cylinder head with a ring of bearings in the middle

Pressure plates and bearings

The one in the middle is the rotor

The rotor is not parallel to the plane of the cylinder head cover, but has an inclination angle. The motor drives the rotor to rotate. Because the plane of the rotor is tilted, its plane will suddenly rise and fall when the rotor rotates. The rotor drives the pressure plate through the bearing, and the plane of the pressure plate is also sometimes high and low. The pressure plate presses the piston of the water pump, causing the piston to reciprocate (see below). The role of the bearing here is to change sliding friction into rolling friction, thus greatly reducing friction.

Water pump, separated from cylinder head

The three protruding ones with springs are the water pump pistons

As mentioned above, the plane of the rotor is inclined (one side is high and the other side is low). When the rotor rotates, its plane is sometimes high and sometimes low. When its high end passes through the piston, it presses the piston in. When its low end passes through the piston, the spring pushes the piston back into place. In this way, the piston reciprocates up and down to do work, and the water pressure is discharged.

One-way valve prevents water from flowing back when the piston presses water

After the water pump is disassembled, clean each channel with flexible thin wire. The iron wire should be thin and elastic, not too soft. It is recommended to use violin strings. If you are not afraid of getting dirty, you can blow with your mouth to see if the passage is unblocked.

After cleaning the water pump, replace the check valve

Replace the piston washer

oil

Add about 2/3 of the oil to the cylinder head

Install the water pump back to the cylinder head

Replace other parts in the reverse order they were disassembled.

installed

Test the machine, everything is normal, the water power is strong enough, OK
Summary:
First, the water source must be clean, otherwise it will easily block the water pump. The pipes inside the pump are very small and tortuous, so it is difficult to clean them without taking them apart.
Second, when separating the water pump and cylinder head, the entire machine must be erected, otherwise the lubricating oil will leak out.
Third, there are special water pump lubricants on the market. After checking the data, the oil used in cars is also okay, and I personally think it will be better, because the operating environment of car cylinders is far worse than that of water pumps.
Fourth, the structure of the high-pressure car wash pump is not complicated. After disassembling it once, I will have experience, and it should be easy to repair it next time.
