Q
how do you bleach polyester
I'm a seasoned industrial engineer with a keen interest in machine learning. Here to share insights on latest industry trends.
Bleaching polyester is a bit tricky compared to natural fabrics due to its synthetic nature. Polyester responds poorly to chlorine bleach, which can damage the fibers or leave them yellowed. Instead, opt for an oxygen-based bleach (like OxiClean). To bleach polyester effectively, fill a tub with cool water and add a scoop of the oxygen-based bleach, following the product's instructions for the amount of water used. Fully submerge the polyester item, ensuring it is completely soaked. Let it sit in the solution for about 1-8 hours, depending on how much whitening is needed. However, it's crucial to check the garment's care label first, as some polyester fabrics (especially those with bright colors or prints) may not respond well to any type of bleaching. After soaking, thoroughly rinse the garment in cold water, then wash it as usual. Always do a patch test on a small, inconspicuous area of the fabric first.
