Q
disadvantages of polyester fibre
I'm a seasoned industrial engineer with a keen interest in machine learning. Here to share insights on latest industry trends.
Polyester fibre is prized for its durability, resistance to shrinking and stretching, and its quick-drying properties. However, it has several disadvantages. Primarily, it is derived from petroleum, making it a non-renewable resource, contributing to environmental pollution. Polyester is not biodegradable, and its production releases harmful emissions into the atmosphere. From a user's perspective, polyester often lacks breathability, leading to discomfort and sweating in warm conditions. It can also cause skin irritation for sensitive individuals. Additionally, polyester is prone to static build-up and can easily attract lint and pet hair. Lastly, while it holds dye well, over time, polyester fabric may become yellowed or discolored, particularly when exposed to high heat during washing or drying.
